Kyrou, 28, scored 18 goals and notched 46 points in 72 games for St. Louis last season. The big centre is going into his fourth season of an eight-year contract worth $65 million that carries an annual cap hit of $8.125 million.

He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2030-31 season.

He was selected for the 2022 NHL All-Star Game and had 27 goals and a career-best 75 points that season. He was drafted 36th overall by St. Louis in 2016, scoring 168 goals and recording 378 points over 488 career games since then.

The winger became a top-six forward for the Caps starting in 2024-25 with 26 goals and 57 points in 82 games. He’s coming off of a two-year, $4.2-million contract with a cap hit of $2.1 million and is a restricted free agent.

He was drafted 25th overall by Washington in 2019 and has 67 goals and 154 points over 315 career games.

The Capitals drafted Gastrin as the 37th overall pick in 2025. He played for MoDo last season in Sweden’s second-tier professional league, scoring 10 goals as part of his 24 points in 39 games.
