Toronto Asian fusion restaurant hit with a dozen infractions from health inspectors

Toronto health inspectors served up multiple infractions to a North York restaurant.

Delicacy Kitchen, whose cuisine is described as “authentic Asian fusion,” received 12 infractions in total — three crucial, five significant, and four minor ones, according to Toronto Public Health.

The restaurant, which was temporarily closed for renovations earlier this summer, offers an array of dishes including Peking duck, fried crispy pork hock, teriyaki sauce crispy beef and steamed shrimp dumplings.

The establishment, located at 2899 Dufferin St., was given a conditional pass notice on Tuesday and remains open to the public.

The crucial infractions were failing to ensure food-handlers washed their hands as necessary to prevent contamination of food, not protecting food from contamination or adulteration, and storing potentially hazardous foods at international temperatures between 4C and 60C.

Of the five significant violations, two were tied to the hand-washing stations — specifically, the failure to maintain the stations with soap and paper towels, and using the station for something other than the hand-washing of employees.

TPH also zeroes in on Delicacy Kitchen’s food equipment, which was not of sound and tight construction, a dirty towel was used to clean surfaces that come into contact with food, and utensils were sanitized in a proper chlorine solution “of less than 100 p.p.m. (parts per million).”

As for the four minor infractions, the eatery failed to ensure equipment surfaces were sanitized as necessary, while the food-handling room was not maintained in a sanitary condition, inspectors ruled, noting the floors and ceiling in the space were not maintained.
