When it comes to One Piece, Devil Fruits are one of the strongest sources of power-ups in the series. Distinctly categorized into three groups – Zoan, Paramecia, and Logia-type – the Devil Fruits boost a certain element for their users, often providing them with a massive boost in power and abilities.
While Devil Fruits work wonders for characters like Monkey D. Luffy, Trafalgar D. Law, Marco, Nico Robin, and other positive characters, in the wrong hands, the innate power-up becomes a devastating combination of mass destruction. Without any further ado, here are the top Devi Fruits wielded by the villains of One Piece, ranked by the offered powers and abilities.

10 Gecko Moria – The Kage Kage no Mi
Gecko Moria from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationOne of the most underwhelming Warlords from the series, Gecko Moria, wielded the Kage Kage no Mi (Shadow-Shadow Fruit). The ironic fact here is that while Moria was definitely one of the villains who fell short of the hype, he had one of the most broken Paramecia-type Devil Fruits in the series.
The Kage Kage no Mi gives the user the ability to manifest and control shadows of living creatures – including their own, as physical and tangible forms. These shadows can then be inserted into other bodies, both living and dead, and create Zombie-like beings that follow the user’s, in this case, Gecko Moria, commands.
9 Caesar Clown – The Gasu Gasu no Mi
Caesar Clown from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationWhile Caesar Clown was the main antagonist of the Punk Hazard Arc, he later became more like a joke in the series with his over-the-top reactions and interactions with the Straw Hat Pirates. What wasn’t a joke was his Devil Fruit, the Gasu Gasu no Mi (Gas-Gas Fruit), one of the most underrated but broken Logia-type fruits in the series.
The Gasu Gasu no Mi allows the user to create, control, and transform into gas at will. Not only that, it can also allow the user to take control of all the gases in the atmosphere, including nitrogen, hydrogen, and most importantly, oxygen. The Karakuni technique literally allows Caesar to steal the oxygen from his opponents.
8 Sir Crocodile – The Suna Suna no Mi
Sir Crocodile from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationThis was one of the earliest powerful displays of a Logia-type Devil Fruit in the One Piece anime series, the Suna Suna no Mi (Sand-Sand Fruit) eaten by Sir Crocodile, the main antagonist of the Alabasta Arc. Seeing how Crocodile completely overwhelmed Luffy, not once but twice, we already understood how powerful and scary Devil Fruits can get from that point onwards.
The DF allows the user to create, control, and transform into sand at will, turning the user into a Sand Human – controlling one of the most abundant elements on the planet.
7 Enel – The Goro Goro no Mi
Enel from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationThe “God” from Skypiea Island wielded one of the most destructive and powerful Logia-type Devil Fruits in the entire series, the Goro Goro no Mi (Rumble-Rumble Fruit). Enel was able to use the powers of lightning, allowing him to create, control, and become lightning at will, making him a Lightning Human.
One of the big reasons this is lowly ranked is because of the most controversial matchup it had in the series. Enel faced off against Luffy and his Gomu Gomu no Mi (Rubber-Rubber Fruit), the only DF in the entire series that was a direct counter to lightning. Even a powerful El Thor was rendered useless against the Rubber Human.
6 Donquixote Doflamingo – The Ito Ito no Mi
Law vs. Doflamingo from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationDespite being a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit in a world where powerful Logia exist, the Ito Ito no Mi (String-String Fruit) became one of the strongest in the hands of the Warlord, Donquixote Doflamingo. What makes the simple conceptualized DF even more powerful is the fact that Doflamingo awakened the Devil Fruit while his fights in the Dressrosa Arc.
The Ito Ito no Mi allows the user to create and manipulate strings; sounds simple, right? The endless possibilities and applications by the Warlord made it seem like strings might be the most broken stationary item in a house. He literally created a birdcage that trapped his opponents, and even Luffy had to push to Gear 4 to stand a chance against him.
5 Borsalino (Kizaru) – The Pika Pika no Mi
Borsalino (Admiral Kizaru) from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationNow we’re entering scary territory: the Pika Pika no Mi (Glint-Glint Fruit) controls one of the most troublingly omnipresent elements in nature – light. It only feels fitting that an Admiral like Kizaru uses such an overpowered and broken Devil Fruit in the series.
The DF not only provides the Logia-type natural immunity, but it also makes Kizaru completely transparent like light. We literally saw bullets pass through his head during his chilling debut entrance at the Sabaody Archipelago Arc. He also teleports and moves at the speed of light while wielding the Ama no Murakumo, a longsword made purely from light.
4 Sakazuki (Akainu) – The Magu Magu no Mi
Sakazuki (Admiral Akainu) from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationOne of the most hated One Piece characters, the now Fleet Admiral Sakazuki, formerly Admiral Akainu, wields the Magu Magu no Mi (Mag-Mag Fruit). The Magu Magu no Mi allows him to become a Magma Human, able to create, control, and transform into magma at will. We saw a first-hand terrifying display of his Logia-type Devil Fruit during the Marineford Arc.
What makes his fruit even more broken is that it can literally pierce through other Logia-type DF’s – as we saw when he killed the Mera Mera no Mi user Portgas D. Ace. Lava is also one of the most potent natural elements that can destroy several Paramecia-type powers, including Luffy’s rubber.
3 Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom) – The Soru Soru no Mi
Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom) from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationThe first Yonko antagonist introduced into the series, Charlotte Linlin, better known as Big Mom, was the main antagonist of the Whole Cake Island Arc, wielding one of the most broken Paramecia-type Devil Fruits, the Soru Soru no Mi (Soul-Soul Fruit). The Soru Soru no Mi allowed Big Mom to interact with and manipulate souls.
The DF was formerly eaten by Mother Carmel, a child trafficker dealing in orphans, and was later transferred to Big Mom, who devoured Carmel accidentally on her sixth birthday. Apart from stealing souls, Big Mom can also manifest these souls into powerful entities she calls Homies.
2 Kaido – The Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu
Kaido from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationThe former Emperor of the Sea, Kaido, consumed the Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit, the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu (Fish-Fish Fruit, Model: Azure Dragon). The main antagonist of the Wano Country Arc showed how powerful his DF powers were when he transformed completely into an azure dragon, larger than an island.
Kaido literally killed Luffy in the arc, and we all thought it was over, until Luffy’s DF powers awakened and pushed through, and he became Gear 5: Sun God Nika. Kaido’s dragon transformation featured scales that even Zoro’s blades found difficulty cutting, and these are powerful cursed blades imbued with Armament Haki we’re talking about.
1 Blackbeard – The Yami Yami no Mi and the Gura Gura no Mi
Blackbeard (Marshall D. Teach) from One Piece | Credits: Toei AnimationThe mangaka Eiichiro Oda finally gave us a character who can wield two fruits at once – just one character – and it turned out to be the most villainous and evil character in the series, Marshall D. Teach, popularly known as Blackbeard. While he initially obtained the Yami Yami no Mi (Dark-Dark Fruit), he later stole the Gura Gura no Mi (Quake-Quake Fruit) after Whitebeard’s death.
What makes Blackbeard terrifying is that he wields the Logia power of darkness that nullifies all other fruit powers on contact, and the quaking powers of the Paramecia DF that can literally split the air into two. He is one of the most broken characters the series has seen so far.
| RANKING | FRUIT | USER |
