9 Chainsaw Man – 8.3/10

While My Hero Academia is really kid-friendly, Chainsaw Man by Studio MAPPA is the exact opposite. The series is highly mature with adult themes, narrating the supernatural idea of Devils vs. Devil Hunters, with explicit gore that will make your stomach churn. As of now, the series has released a single season and a movie, so it is relatively easy to watch.

What’s more is that the manga recently ended, and the story is pretty much paced with the anime, with minimal to no filler episodes or parts, which makes the viewing experience even more focused. Apart from being available on Disney+ with the Hulu package, the series is also available on Crunchyroll.

8 Jujutsu Kaisen – 8.5/10

Probably one of the biggest anime titles which exploded worldwide in recent times, Jujutsu Kaisen is a must-watch series if you are sitting out. The series has narrative depth, immaculate animation, a handful of shonen’s strongest characters, and a protagonist whose story is too emotionally deep and constantly evolving to ignore.

With three seasons under its belt, the series has recently entered its most vivid and intriguing arc, the Culling Games Arc. We can’t stress enough how good the series is now and how promising the direction of the story is looking; you’re missing out if you haven’t watched it yet.

7 One Punch Man – 8.6/10

The One Punch Man series is basically a mockery of every traditional shonen and seinen anime character development arc, with a protagonist who has no power ceiling. No matter how many dangerous and excessive monsters you put in front of Saitama, one punch is exactly what it takes to obliterate them.

Despite a poor fan reception with the recent Season 3 of the anime, the story still stands as one of the funniest and most narratively rich in the anime-verse. If you can look past the discrepancies with the Season 3 animation flaws, this is a great series to binge on.

6 Demon Slayer – 8.6/10

There’s so much we want to talk about the Demon Slayer anime and so little space to actually stress how overall beautiful the series is. To start, the Kimetsu no Yaiba series has one of the kindest and gentlest protagonists in shonen anime, Tanjiro Kamado. It also has characters who push Tanjiro over the edge to enter rage mode.

The animation of the series is impeccable and picturesque, capturing both the emotional plots and the intense action equally. Demon Slayer is definitely a series you should add to your watchlist and start binging on, if you haven’t already.

5 Vinland Saga – 8.8/10

It’s literally in the title of Vinland Saga – the “Saga” part. The series follows an epic Viking adventure of a young Thorfinn who seeks revenge against Askeladd for killing his father. However, after Askeladd’s death, Thorfinn chooses a life of peace and reconciliation – something none of us expected.

Even if we keep aside the massive animation prowess and narrative pathing of the series, the mental transformation of Thorfinn itself is a big story you can’t really afford to miss out on. This is a must-watch series for any fan who likes a good motivational and adventurous story.

4 Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End – 8.9/10

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has taken the anime world by storm since it first aired in 2023. From a laid-back story that frequently jumps between action and fantasy to a relaxing adventure, the series has a very picturesque approach to the narrative. And then there’s the serene and polished animation to complement the story from the legendary Madhouse animation studio.

The storyline is vast as the elf Frieren and her companions traverse the fantasy landscapes in a long journey that is filled with magic and heartwarming moments. Apart from the Disney+ and Hulu platforms, the series is also available to stream on Crunchyroll and Netflix.

3 Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – 9.0/10

The Thousand-Year Blood War is the final Saga of the Bleach anime series, split into four parts – The Blood Warfare, The Separation, The Conflict, and the upcoming part, The Calamity. Compared to the rest of the series, which followed the Bleach manga arcs to the tee and had a substantial amount of fillers, the final arc has some of the most beautiful anime-original scenes and Bankai releases that elevated it to another level.

With Part 4 scheduled to release in July 2026, this might be the perfect time to start the final saga if you have skipped after the main series ended. The highlighted battle between the Quincy and the Soul Reapers is one of the biggest conflicts in shonen anime by far, in our opinion.

2 Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood – 9.1/10

A fun fact about the series: the original Fullmetal Alchemist series actually ran out of manga chapters to adapt and formed its own story and ending. On the other hand, the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood series, released years later, is the proper canon-accurate adaptation of the series by Studio Bones Inc.

If you are a fan of the franchise but have stopped after watching the main series, we highly encourage you to watch the Brotherhood series – it has a more intriguing and action-packed adventure story and an ending that is far better than many final arcs in even legendary shonen anime titles.

The series starts relatively normal – a fantasy outline, a revenge narrative, and a subtle political plot – but soon transpires into one of the most complex and complete narratives anime has ever seen.

Whatever you want, Attack on Titan has it – twists around every corner, a morally grey character who blurs the lines between a hero and a villain, a revenge narrative taken too far, a political drama that sometimes feels horrifying, and deaths that scar for life. Every character in the series held a significant role, and that’s what makes it an epic saga.
