The series has spent five consecutive weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 and remains among the platform’s most-watched non-English titles. This week, The Wonderfools ranked in the Top 10 across 26 countries and generated an additional 1.3 million views.

Its success extends beyond Netflix’s own rankings. According to Nielsen’s U.S. streaming ratings, The Wonderfools recorded 339 million minutes viewed, ranking eighth among the most-watched streaming originals and becoming the only non-English-language series to appear in the week’s (May 18-May 24, 2026) Top 10.

Will The Wonderfools Return for Season 2 on Netflix?

With the success of Netflix’s Korean superhero show The Wonderfools, discussions about a potential Season 2 have already started. Director Yoo In-sik has addressed the possibility of a second season. While he revealed that the series was not originally planned as a multi-season project, he did not rule out a continuation.

“We did not cast or build the story with a season format in mind,” he told Maeil Business before adding,

There had to be room for the door to stay open within the world we created. There is a possibility that something could happen again, and there is a character who holds the key to solving it. If that flow were completely closed off, I think the story would lose its consistency. If viewers want more, it is a happy question to consider. But we did not make it with Season 2 in mind from the start.

The director hinted that Season 2 could happen and that a certain character may play an important role, though he did not reveal who it is or how the story could continue.

The Season 1 finale sees Won-do’s plan to create a new Eternal Heart reach its climax as he prepares to spread a mutating chemical across Haeseong City. Chae-ni, Un-jeong, Ro-bin, and Gyeong-hun work together to stop him. Chae-ni saves the city by teleporting the blimp carrying the chemical away before it explodes. Although many believe she has died, she later returns after traveling the world and fulfilling her dream.

However, the series ends on a major cliffhanger when the seemingly dead Ha Won-do opens his eyes beneath the church rubble, leaving the door open for future stories and a possible Season 2.
