Obi-Wan Kenobi took us to a time in the history of the Republic that is pretty well documented, with shows like Star Wars Rebels. However, it took a completely new take on the ever-faithful, ever-confident Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, the show ended on quite an interesting note, one which could lead to the stories that Ewan McGregor wants to explore.

Audiences have seen a few glimpses of the time between the ending of Revenge of Sith and when Luke met Obi-Wan in A New Hope, such as the fight between Darth Maul and Obi-Wan in Star Wars Rebels and the entire Obi-Wan Kenobi series. However, there is a wide enough timeframe between those two events that Obi-Wan Kenobi could receive a second series, and Ewan McGregor is keen on exploring the possibilities.

Even after 25 years, Ewan McGregor has no qualms against returning to play Obi-Wan Kenobi

Ewan McGregor, speaking to Variety, revealed how eager he is to return to the character of Obi-Wan Kenobi. The actor is keen on exploring Obi-Wan’s time on Tatooine after Anakin Skywalker took on the role of Darth Vader, up until Kenobi came to Luke’s rescue against the Jawas in Star Wars: A New Hope. He said:

Between where we ended off in the series and when Alec Guinness comes on screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there’s another few stories to tell in there.

There are a slew of potential plots that Ewan McGregor could play out in the second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, should it be made. The series even left off with Obi-Wan encountering the Force Ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn, which could lead him on a quest to reconnect with the Force even more and learn the technique, which would then come to fruition in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Legends timeline has a storied history from his time in exile that could fit right into the canon timeline that Disney has set up. From his famous almost-romances to quests assigned by a Force Ghost Qui-Gon Jinn, there are a host of adventures, characters, and story beats that would be perfect for a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Ewan McGregor has always been celebrated as one of the better additions to the franchise from the Prequels. Fans have always been keen on seeing more from the actor in the franchise, and a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi would do that. However, fans also would like to see Kenobi in a more action-oriented place, like he was during his time in the Clone Wars, which could easily be a trope that executes itself in the show, given how much more confident the character is.
