Demon Slayer has done a great job of portraying an array of emotions through the characters. More than the human characters, it was the demons who showcased multiple characteristics and emotions. The human only projected their sorrows, joy, and anger, but the demons were much more expressive in many ways. Kibutsuji Muzan, the Demon King, is not the most evil one.

Upper Moon 2, Doma, has a more evil personality than the Demon King. Muzan has always been straightforward with his emotions about killing the demon slayers and conquering the Sun by finding the Blue Spider Lily. However, Doma was completely different since he was deceitful, cunning, and emotionless. He used his charms to commit heinous crimes.

From the beginning, Demon Slayer fans had no problem understanding the true motive of Kibutsuji Muzan. Even the Upper Moon demons also had a stable mindset and did not deviate from that. However, Doma was nothing like these demons. His deeds will make any healthy person feel nauseous and hate him from their inner core. Doma can be described as an emotionless demon who feeds on other people’s emotions.

The Upper Moon 2 has always been emotionless, and when his mother killed his father and killed herself, the only thing he cared about was how dirty the room had become. Since his human days, he has led the Eternal Paradise Cult, where his followers treat him as a God. They come to him with their problems, and he gives them a solution.

After becoming a demon, he attracted young and pretty women to the cult and devoured them. One of his female followers was Kotoha Hashibira, Inosuke’s mother. Unlike other females, Doma wanted her to be by his side until she died of natural causes. He even took care of baby Inosuke. However, Kotoha saw him devouring a woman, and Doma had no choice but to end her life.

Even though the Upper Moon 2 is emotionless and deceitful, he feels something different with Kotoha. He went to the extent of showing kindness to people so that he could earn something in return. His character has always been confusing. Even after being the most evil character, he could show kindness to others. Doma was always ready to mask himself to fulfill his ulterior motives.

Doma Changed In His Last Moments

There was never anything likable about the Upper Moon 2. Koyoharu Gotouge did an excellent job of making people deliberately hate Doma. His character was so well written, and the twisted personality was like icing on the cake. Doma’s character was quite uncertain, yet somehow, there was always a certainty that he did not believe in linear beliefs. He trapped everyone under his charm but was never charmed by others. However, this changed when he was taking his last few breaths.

He absorbed the Insect Hashira, Shinobu Kocho, but the latter had created a poison that would destroy the demon after devouring her. After realizing that there was no way out for him, his views toward the world changed. Doma did not believe in the concept of Hell and Heaven or any religion, but in the end, he started to question his thoughts. He experienced emotions for the first time when he said he found the Insect Hashira cute.
