When The Gentlemen arrived on Netflix in March 2024, it did not take long to become a monster hit on the platform. Guy Ritchie‘s spin-off from his own 2019 film pulled 12.2 million views in its first week, hit No. 1 around the world, and stuck around the Global Top 10 for ten straight weeks (via Variety).

The show gave off a Downton Abbey meets Breaking Bad vibe that the viewers instantly took a liking to. Theo James played Eddie Horniman, an army captain who inherits a dukedom and the enormous cannabis operation hidden underneath it. Netflix renewed it in August 2024. Two and a half years later, Season 2 is finally days away.

The Gentlemen Season 2 Release Date and Time

The Gentlemen Season 2 premieres on Netflix on Thursday, September 3, 2026. All eight episodes drop at once, so there is no weekly wait. Netflix has stuck with the Season 1 model rather than splitting the run in half. Each episode runs roughly an hour, so the full season is about eight hours of Ritchie chaos.

The Gentlemen Season 2 Cast: Who Joins Theo James?

Theo James is back as Eddie, now far more comfortable as a crime boss. Kaya Scodelario returns as Susie Glass, with Ray Winstone as her father Bobby, still running things from a very comfortable prison cell. Daniel Ings returns as Freddy, Eddie’s disaster of an older brother.

Other returning cast members include Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Giancarlo Esposito, Ruby Sear, and Pearce Quigley. The new faces are where it gets interesting. Sergio Castellitto plays Marco Moretti, an Italian crime boss who is ruthless and elegant in equal measure.

Michele Morrone is Cico Maldini, the fixer they hire in Italy. Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville also appears alongside Benjamin Clementine, Benedetta Porcaroli, Amra Mallassi, and Tyler Conti.

The Gentlemen Season 2 Plot: Where Is the Guy Ritchie Series Headed?

A year has passed since Eddie threw in with the Glass family, and he has developed a taste for the work. The estate is no longer enough. Netflix’s logline sets it up plainly (via Variety):

It’s been one year since Eddie and Susie joined forces to work together in Bobby’s criminal empire overseas. As they drive to expand their enterprise, the decisions Bobby is making seem to be increasingly unsound. Now Eddie and Susie must decide whether to take action or risk losing it all, but unfettered ambition never ends well…

The big change is geography. Season 1 barely left the English countryside. Season 2 takes the operation out of the tunnels under Halstead and into the lakeside villas of Italy, where Eddie and Susie try to establish a foothold.

That brings them into Moretti’s orbit, with Maldini supposedly guiding them through unfamiliar territory. Executive producer Matthew Read has said the writers deliberately threw obstacles at Eddie and Susie to test how far their bond can stretch. He shared (via Tudum):

There is great connection between them. In order to deepen that connection, we threw a lot of obstacles at them, and yet their affection and connection always comes through that.

Expect betrayals, expensive tailoring, and at least one deal that goes very badly wrong, as Eddie raises his profile within the criminal world.

The Gentlemen Season 2 Trailer: What Does It Reveal?

Netflix dropped a 75-second teaser in July alongside the release date. Eddie is asked what he wants, and answers “everything.” The footage confirms the Italian setting, introduces the new antagonists, and leans harder into violence than Season 1 did.

Is The Gentlemen Returning for Season 3 After Meghan Markle Rumors?

Deadline reported in August 2026 that Meghan Markle is in talks for a role in a potential third season. This report came after an earlier report from the outlet that reported on Markle’s return to acting. However, the report added that the talks were in their early stages.

It also noted that Netflix hasn’t renewed the show for a third season yet, even though it is a likely possibility. Markle has barely acted since Suits and her 2018 marriage to Prince Harry, focusing instead on Netflix projects like Harry & Meghan. With the couple relocating to the UK, she appears to be easing back toward acting.

The Gentlemen is a Netflix exclusive, so a subscription is the only way in. Season 1 is streaming there now if you need a refresher before September 3. Ritchie’s original 2019 film is not on Netflix, but is available to rent on Prime Video.
