Homelander tells the press that Soldier Boy (Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles) is his father for a couple of reasons. First, he needs validation from the man, which fuels his cold, villainous, narcissistic heart. Second, he clearly gave up Soldier Boy in case the compound virus killed him. Of course, Homelander denies he knew about the virus, lying through his teeth.

Oh, and let’s not forget that Soldier Boy survived the virus because he has “V1” in his blood. This means he is immune to the virus that Dr. Sameer Shah (Omid Abtahi) created. The original six supes all have it, including Liberty, which is how Soldier Boy survived. When Homelander (Antony Starr) saw the look on his father’s face about Liberty, he found it curious. Apparently, they share a type.

The issue is if Homelanders finds V1, he could also morph into being immune, like his father. Sister Sage (Orange Is the New Black’s Susan Heyward) says Vought had the last vile of the good stuff, but none is left. Except Annie (Erin Moriarty) and Hughie (Novocaine’s Jack Quaid) have an idea to go to the man himself. That’s right, Stan Edgar (Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito) at his compound.

What the Boys don’t know is that Homelander sends Black Noir II, The Deep, Cindy, and a supe who can apparently sniff out people from hundreds of yards away. Homelander sent them, with The Deep tagging along because he needs a win. He is very disappointed when he finds out their boss never asked about him. Their destination? Where ever are heroes are headed, Red River.

Prime Video’s The Boys Season 5 Episode 3: Who is Zoe Neuman?

Zoe Neuman (Olivia Morandin) is the daughter of the late Victoria Neuman and granddaughter of Stan. The teenager is moody and, with the help of Compound V, can produce four tendrils from her mouth lined with sharp teeth. Zoe witnessed Billy (Karl Urban) kill her mother, swearing revenge, but she does not know her father is alive. The group visits Stan at his luxury Red River bunker.

After telling Stan why they came, they are invited in, where they also meet Maverick, the son of Translucent. We find out Stan told the kid that Homelander killed his father, when we know it was Hughie all the way back in the debut season. Hughie tries to apologize to Zoe, but she tells him off. The real shocker is when Zoe sneaks out through a back entrance, Ryan shows up, and they end up in love.

Zoe wants Ryan to help kill Billy the Butcher. Ryan is hesitant because he is afraid Billy will kill her. After Zoe leaves, Butcher shows up, hiding in the bushes. He wants to talk to Ryan, trying to convince him to hear him out because they both loved the same woman—Ryan’s mother. Speaking of love, Homelander has a hallucination of Madelyn Stillwell (Elisabeth Shue), who stokes his ego and tells him he is God.

When the rogue supes show up, Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) reveals that the government developed Compound V at Fort Harmony. If any V1 is left, he believes it would be there. Meanwhile, Billy tells Ryan he wants him to kill Homelander, even though injecting him with the virus would kill Ryan as well. Meanwhile, Zoe sneaks to Butcher’s place to kill him, but finds her father. They embrace, but now Sameer realizes they lied to him. He then destroyed the samples.

Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) confront Zoe and Sameer. However, when Frenchie draws his gun, Kimiko tells him to let them go so Zoe can grow up and just be a kid. They return to Billy and tell him the bad news. Soldier Boy and Firecracker have sex. She tells him that Homelander has never consummated their relationship.

The Boys ends with Mother sending Maverick out naked, since he is invisible, to kill The Deep and his team. However, the “supe sniffer” can smell his body spray. They break in while Stan tries to sneak out the back. Noir grabs him, but when he gets him to the car, The Deep tosses a halothane canister inside and closes the doors. Noir is knocked out cold, and The Deep takes Stan, securing his win.

Maverick is killed by Cindy, who believes she is targeting Hughie but cannot see Translucent’s son in front of her. When his blood splatters across the walls, Starlight snaps Cindy’s neck, thinking she has killed Hughie, only for him to reveal himself moments later and embrace her. However, she later leaves, distraught, having almost lost him.

The episode concludes with Ryan confronting Homelander about raping his mother. He tries to kill him but cannot, and his father beats him within an inch of his life. Homelander goes home, where The Deep delivers Stan Edgar. Meanwhile, Butcher finds Ryan and places a tracker in his coat as he lies bleeding on the ground where his father left him.
