4 Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

The film is hailed as a stylish and admirably respectful adaptation of the source material. A troubled Batman goes up against a mysterious figure who many believe is the caped crusader himself. On the other hand, Bruce Wayne is getting married to Andrea Beaumont, who helps him recover from his need to avenge his parents’ murder.

The film tackles the storylines quite beautifully, and the voice acting is simply phenomenal. If you want a taste of the nostalgic, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is definitely on the watchlist.

Fans were skeptical when Robert Pattinson was cast to portray the role of Batman in Matt Reeves 2022 flick, The Batman. However, the Twilight star proved everyone wrong with his stellar acting, and the movie… was simply phenomenal.

With iconic cinematography, director Matt Reeves made the audience feel the reek of a corrupted and breathing Gotham City. The movie is grim, the storyline is tight, and The Riddler is leaving intricate puzzles requiring Batman’s detective skills to be put to good use.

Although the movie was already expected to be great, people hadn’t anticipated this level from a non DCEU/DCU film. Introducing the world to an iconic Penguin as well as an emotional Batman, The Batman easily deserves the 3rd spot on this list.

2 The LEGO Batman Movie

Didn’t think I’d put this at number 2, but… The LEGO Batman Movie is actually one of the greatest Batman movies ever made. For the first time, Batman felt like a relatable character who had some other moods outside of grim, sad, and stubborn.

Voiced by Will Arnett and joined by comedians like Michael Cera, Zach Galifianakis, and more, The LEGO Batman Movie captured every aspect of Batman that had seemed abnormal and made it relatable.

From the comedic timing and editing to the storyline of the movie, The LEGO Batman Movie is a Batman movie enjoyed by all age groups. Naturally, the film had to be #2 on this list.

1 The Dark Knight

Three reasons. Although The Dark Knight doesn’t need a reason to be #1 on this list, we still have to at least discuss the film. Directed by Christopher Nolan and being the second of The Dark Knight trilogy, the 2008 movie introduced Heath Ledger in the iconic role of The Joker.

With Batman undergoing his character arc, The Joker and Harvey Dent terrorize Gotham City while Bruce Wayne deals with the loss of his parents and comes to terms with his identity as a superhero.

With some stellar acting, iconic music by Hans Zimmer, and a storyline that doesn’t let go, The Dark Knight is clearly the greatest Batman movie that you should rewatch on Batman Day.
