GTA 6 is still officially a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S game for now, but the conversation around a PC version has picked up again. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has now commented on the growing importance of the platform to the company, giving fans another reason to revisit the long-running release rumors.
Of course, Zelnick has not announced a PC version or given us a release window as of yet. However, his comments arrive alongside fresh industry chatter about Rockstar potentially bringing GTA 6 to PC sooner than expected, while a separate comment from Twitch’s CEO has also raised questions about when the game’s multiplayer could arrive.

Speaking during Take-Two’s annual shareholder meeting on September 17, Strauss Zelnick was asked whether PlayStation 5 Pro shortages could change the company’s approach to releasing its games on PC. Rather than pointing to any specific game, he explained how the company decides which platforms its games should support.
The strategy of the company is over time, generally speaking, to launch for any platforms for which there’s a meaningful audience.
That answer is fairly broad, but Zelnick followed it with a more direct point about PC. “I would note that the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time.” For a company that owns Rockstar and one of the industry’s biggest PC gaming franchises, that was bound to get people looking at GTA 6 again.
Take-Two has also previously acknowledged just how large the PC market has become for its major releases. Zelnick said to Bloomberg earlier this year that PC can account for roughly 45% to 50% of sales for a major title, which gives some context to his latest comments. PC is not a small side of the business that Take-Two can afford to ignore.
Obviously, none of this confirms a PC version of GTA 6 waiting in the wings right after the console release. Rockstar’s official listing still only names PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for the November 19, 2026 release, and there is no announced PC date. What Zelnick has given us instead is a broader indication that Take-Two sees PC as an increasingly important part of its future, which is why the latest comments have reignited the speculation.
Rockstar’s PC Release History & the 2027 Rumors
Here we go again. | Credits: Rockstar GamesRockstar has never released its biggest recent games on PC alongside consoles. For instance, GTA 5 launched in September 2013 before coming to PC in April 2015, while Red Dead Redemption 2 took about a year to make the same jump.
That history is one reason 2027 keeps coming up in discussions around GTA 6. A November 2027 release would put the PC version roughly a year after the console launch, but Rockstar has never gone out of its way to say that is the plan.
There has also been some recent chatter suggesting the wait could be shorter. VGC editor-in-chief Andy Robinson said in a podcast episode earlier this month that there was “a bit of noise” around Rockstar potentially pushing the PC version up, although he too did not provide us a date or explain exactly what the underlying information was.
That is also where the recent Twitch comments have been pulled into the wider discussion. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy said the platform expects a bigger bump “next year” when Rockstar launches multiplayer, leading some to connect a potential 2027 multiplayer release with the rumored PC version. As we’ve already reported, though, Clancy did not say that the two launches would happen together, and Rockstar has not confirmed either timeline.
Which PC release window do you expect Rockstar to target for GTA 6? Would you rather see the PC version arrive sooner, or are you expecting the usual Rockstar wait? Let us know in the comments below!
