After a couple of great episodes, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Episode 3, which was released on April 17, 2026, is probably the best episode in the installment so far. The episode was absolute cinema in my opinion: peak storytelling with flawless animation from Studio 8-bit.
Narratively speaking, the way it was presented was ingenious from the makers of the anime adaptation. Rather than dumping every major revelation and information all at once, the blend of lore and comedic relief in between was just amazing to watch. Nevertheless, here’s what went down in TenSura or That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Episode 3.
Spoiler Alert !!!
Spoilers from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Episode 3 up ahead!
A History Class About the Rosso Family With Mariabell’s Flashback
Mariabell’s past in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Episode 3 | Credits: 8-bitThe episode started with an exploration of the Rosso family line, pivoting through Mariabel Rosso and her reincarnation into this world. As Mariabel narrated, her story began when she was reincarnated as the princess of the Kingdom of Seltrozzo. In her previous life, she was the daughter of a high noble in Europe.
Through talent, effort, and fortune, Mariabel became a behind-the-scenes ruler of Europe and got married. Based on the flashback, it seemed that she preferred dictatorship over diplomatic rule and died of old age before being reincarnated. After being Isekai’d, she immediately showcased her ability “Greed” by controlling the wet nurse. As time passed, she took control of almost everyone with her ability, except for Granbell Rosso, her grandfather.
Rimuru’s Avatar Team Is Formed to Face Team Green Fury
The episode then switches perspective to Rimuru, Ramiris, Veldora, and Milim in their avatar forms, confronting a team of adventurers on the 30th floor. However, they soon realised how disoriented and chaotic they were with a stark reality check. To power themselves up, Rimuru approached Kurobe to make armor and weapons for them. After the assignment, they returned to the dungeon and trained from the lower floors upwards.
After defeating a dungeon boss, their teamwork, coordination, and strength drastically increased, but it still felt lacking. Meanwhile, Gard bore the news that Team Green Fury is about to enter the 49th floor. Hearing this, Rimuru and the others prepared while Kurobe also delivered the new armor and weapons for them.
As Team Green Fury entered the 49th dungeon floor, they were immediately ambushed by acidic slime monsters. While they slashed and carved their way through the basic monsters, Rimuru’s avatar team was waiting for them. They each took out the adventurers, and Rimuru tapped into holy magic and took out the remaining members, including Ayn, their captain.
Plot Thickens as Enemies of Tempest Close In
A still from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Episode 3 | Credits: 8-bitWith the defeat of Team Green Fury, our Isekai MC and the others rejoiced and celebrated in their palace. However, on the other side of the world, things were only getting more intense and serious. Sending in Team Green Fury was a part of a bigger conspiracy against Tempest Country by Mariabell and Yuuki. However, that didn’t stop them from moving forward with their conquest.
Yuuki explained that if they isolated Rimuru, especially from his partner Veldora, he might be able to take him out. Mariabell agreed to this plan and decided to use her “Greed” ability to sway the others, and Yuuki would deal with Rimuru.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Episode 3 Final Verdict
Mariabell from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Episode 3 | Credits: 8-bitComing to the analysis of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4 Episode 3, there isn’t much I can really critique. Narratively, it was filled to the brim with important context that laid the foundations for massive future confrontations. Furthermore, the exploration of Mariabell’s past and her connection with Yuuki and the other antagonists was a masterful touch by Fuse.
Coming to the animation, it was just well-rounded and felt balanced; the flashback felt like a flashback, with sepia tones creeping into the otherwise very polished anime series. The fights had effects and deep cut-to transitions, but everything felt balanced and not over-the-top. I’m really amazed that Studio 8-bit isn’t just animating the series well; they are literally making it better and better with every episode, and this one was just peak.
