Ted Lasso: Juno Temple Confirms Marriage to Hannah Waddingham’s Driver Michal Szymanski

Ted Lasso fans got a bonus love story this week, and it happened off-screen. Juno Temple, who plays Keeley Jones in the Apple TV comedy, quietly married her longtime partner Michal Szymanski, and she only let it slip while promoting the show’s fourth season.

The 37-year-old actress confirmed the news during a TFI Unplugged special, sitting alongside co-stars Hannah Waddingham, Jason Sudeikis, and Brendan Hunt. The cast had been asked what happened in their lives during the three-year gap between seasons three and four, and Temple answered with a bombshell, “I got married. We met on season two of Ted Lasso.”

That last part turned out to be the more interesting half of the story. Szymanski was not a castmate or a crew member Temple bumped into between takes. He was working as a driver on the show, and specifically, he was driving Waddingham.

Juno Temple and Michal Szymanski Had a Private Wedding Ceremony

Juno Temple did not offer much in the way of details, and that fits her track record. She has never been one to narrate her relationship in public. She did not name a date or a venue, saying only that the wedding ceremony took place “in the last two years.”

That timeline puts it somewhere in the long break between Ted Lasso seasons three and four. The couple themselves have not been a secret, though. Temple and Szymanski went public in May 2022 when they walked the red carpet together at the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick.

Szymanski was her date at the Primetime Emmys in September 2022, the year she was nominated for playing Keeley. There was one earlier hint that things had gotten serious. Back in June 2024, while talking to the Los Angeles Times about nailing the Minnesotan accent for Fargo, Temple referred to Szymanski as her “fiancé”.

The best part of the interview came from Hannah Waddingham, who was sitting right there as her co-star told the story. Because Michal Szymanski was her driver, Juno Temple went to her first before making any move. Waddingham shared, “She said, ‘Can I ask him on a date?’ I said, ‘Yes you can’.”

Once they got the approval, the two of them had to get creative about actually spending time together on a working set. Temple explained how that went. She shared, “He was driving Hannah and they had a secret code where I could go and meet them and accidentally Hannah’s appointment would run over.”

Waddingham, who plays Rebecca Welton on the series, clearly approves of how it all turned out. She said the two are well matched, then delivered the kind of warning only a close friend can get away with. She joked, “Look after my girl or I will punch you square in the face.” She further added, “They are the greatest oxygen to each other in the universe.”
