Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s latest New York date night may have looked like a simple birthday celebration, but one body language expert believes their hand-holding revealed a more specific relationship dynamic.
The newlyweds stepped out on October 5 to celebrate Kelce’s 37th birthday at Torrisi in SoHo, arriving and leaving hand in hand. The Blast previously reported that the pair kept the celebration relatively low-key.
Celebrity body language expert Inbaal Honigman, speaking via Casino.org, analyzed videos of the outing and told The Blast that Kelce appeared protective without taking control of the interaction. In her interpretation, Swift remained “the dominant partner in the marriage.”

The dinner came during the Kansas City Chiefs’ bye week, one day after the team beat the Las Vegas Raiders.
PEOPLE reported that Swift wore a black lace-trimmed dress and leather jacket, while Kelce opted for a dark cardigan and trousers.
It was also Kelce’s first birthday since marrying Swift in July.
Honigman focused less on their outfits than on how they moved through the photographers outside.
She noted that Kelce exited their vehicle first and waited while Swift got herself situated.
When she joined him, he took her hand and moved ahead through the crowd while positioning his body between Swift and the cameras.
Expert Says Taylor Swift Still Has The ‘Upper Hand’
MEGAAlthough Travis Kelce appeared to lead Swift through the crowd, Honigman does not interpret that positioning as evidence that he was directing the relationship.
“Even though Travis is taking on the protective role during his birthday outing, turning his back towards the camera flash and shielding Taylor with his body, she is still the dominant partner in the marriage,” Honigman said.
Her analysis focused heavily on their hand placement. According to Honigman, Kelce reached for Swift’s hand from underneath, leaving Swift’s hand physically resting above his.
“Knowingly and acceptingly, Travis is happy to take the lower position in their hand-holding dynamic,” she said.
Honigman added that Swift appears most comfortable with her hand on top, claiming, “When she has the upper hand, literally, she feels like all is well in the marriage.”

Because the 6-foot-5 athlete positioned himself between Swift and photographers, his movements might be interpreted as controlling but Honigman disagreed.
“This may send the message that Travis is a controlling partner, but their hand positioning reveals that this is not the case,” she said. “Travis is vigilant, not smothering.”
She pointed to a similar pattern when they left. Kelce again held Swift’s hand while using his body to shield her from excessive attention.
In Honigman’s reading, those gestures show Kelce taking the physical lead in a crowded environment while remaining comfortable with Swift occupying what she calls the dominant position between them.

Her latest interpretation therefore continues a pattern in her own readings of the couple rather than being based on a single gesture.

Body language analysis, however, remains interpretation rather than proof of a couple’s private dynamic. Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly described their marriage using the hierarchy Honigman suggests.
What the videos clearly show is the pair staying physically connected while moving through a wall of photographers. For Honigman, the telling detail is the combination of Kelce’s protective positioning and Swift’s hand remaining on top.
