Suspect sought after sex assault in North York; man wanted for break-ins surrenders

Cops are seeking tips on the identity of a man accused of sexually assaulting someone during the spring in the York University Heights area of North York.

Toronto Police said the alleged incident happened on April 18 at about noon, when officers responded to a sexual assault call in the Finch Ave. W.-Keele St. area.

Police said the suspect was walking behind the victim and then sexually assaulted them before fleeing.

The suspect is a 5-foot-9 male with a medium build and short brown hair.

Robbery suspect surrenders to cops

A 22-year-old Toronto man accused of breaking into a home in Scarborough last week has surrendered to cops.

Toronto Police had been seeking the suspect, now identified as Hakeem Sobers, after responding to a report of a break-and-enter on Thursday at about 3 p.m. in the Kennedy-Ellesmere Rds. area.

They said a man forced his way into a home and stole a “number of items” before being confronted by the homeowner.

He was last seen walking toward Kennedy.

Police said Sobers turned himself in at 41 Division on Monday and has since been charged with two counts each of break and enter and attempted break and enter.

Hamilton cops probing arson at conservation area

Cops are investigating an arson at Christie Lake Conservation Area near Hamilton that resulted in more than $1 million in damages to a pair of buildings.

Hamilton Police and firefighters responded to a structure fire on Wednesday at about 7 a.m. at the park off Hwy. 5 in Flamborough, just west of the Dundas area of Hamilton, with investigators determining that the blaze with deliberately set.

They said two pavilions sustained “extensive damage” estimated to cost more than $1 million to repair.
