Sugar Season 2 Episode 1 Recap: What Happened to the Aliens and Who Is Hunting Sugar?

The shocking events of Season 1 revealed that private investigator John Sugar is actually an alien living among humans. The finale saw Sugar rescue Olivia Siegel, uncover a trafficking conspiracy, and learn that his long-lost sister Djen may have been connected to Henry, one of the people he trusted most. 

Rather than returning home with the other aliens, Sugar chose to remain on Earth and continue searching for answers. Sugar Season 2’s premiere, Home Away From Home, picks up with that unresolved pain while introducing a brand-new mystery that threatens to pull Sugar into an even larger conspiracy. Sugar suspects that influential people may know more than they should, and the episode suggests that those people are now after Sugar. The detective begins looking into the disappearance and discovers details that suggest the case is far more complicated than he thought. What starts as a straightforward missing-person inquiry gradually appears to be a larger conspiracy that also includes Sugar’s personal quest.

As he follows leads across Los Angeles, he learns that the missing man had been frightened before vanishing and believed someone was pursuing him. More intriguingly, some details hint that the people involved may have knowledge of the hidden alien community that has operated in secret on Earth.
