Sterling Point Cast: Ella Rubin Plays the Young Lead

Ella Rubin, known for The Idea of You and Anora, leads the series as 17-year-old Annie Jacobson. Playing opposite her is Amélie Hoeferle (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) as Ramona, a teen who was raised on the island at the center of the story.

The two share a special bond on screen, as their characters are revealed to be long-lost sisters. During an interview with Teen Vogue, Rubin and Hoeferle shared their experience acting opposite each other. Hoeferle shared, “From the moment I met Ella, it was very clear we were made to tell this story.” Meanwhile, Rubin shared:

It was so organic in that we have so many similarities and differences, opposites getting to ‘fish out of water’ meet each other, enter each other’s worlds, was an incredible canvas for conflict, resolution, and love.

The rest of the young ensemble includes Keen Ruffalo as Annie’s twin brother Connor, along with Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie as Ellis, Daniel Quinn-Toye as Rory, Bo Bragason as Oona, Mabel Strachan as Maple, and Nikko Angelo Hinayo as Sully.

On the adult side, Jay Duplass plays Annie’s loving adoptive father, while The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan appears as Joe. Missi Pyle and Elle-Maija Tailfeathers also feature.

Sterling Point Plot: What Is This Coming-of-Age Drama About?

Unlike most of the recent Prime Video coming-of-age dramas, Sterling Point is not based on a book. The original series, written and created by Megan Park, follows 17-year-old Annie Jacobson, who is raised in New York City alongside her twin brother Connor by their loving adoptive single dad.

Their comfortable life is turned upside down when they learn that their estranged grandfather—a man they were never even allowed to meet—has died and left them a remote island on a lake in Canada. Curious and determined, Annie heads to the island to dig into her family’s past, especially her late mother, despite her father’s obvious reluctance to let her go.

Once there, she finds new friends, budding romances, and a pile of long-buried family secrets. We can see themes of grief, sisterhood, and first love in this show.

Prime Video released the official trailer on July 9, 2026, and it sets the tone perfectly. It introduces us to Annie as her grandfather’s will reveals the mysterious Canadian island, prompting her to pack up her New York life and go searching for answers.

Along the way, we get quick glimpses of the beautiful island, a tight-knit new friend group, and the romantic sparks waiting for her. Fittingly for a summer teen drama, the trailer is set to Gracie Abrams’ new single, Look at My Life. It promises plenty of heart, mystery, and drama.
