PlayStation’s newly released live-service FPS title, Concord, has struggled to establish any kind of noteworthy audience. Since the game was first announced a few months back, it has been criticized by gamers for being another generic hero shooter with poor character designs.

The game debuted to abysmal numbers on Steam, peaking at just 597 players during its debut weekend. Even though Sony is trying to win all of that back with a brand new Jason Blundell project, gamers have lost hope believing the company can’t make anything but a horrendous game like Concord.

Gamers Have Lost Faith in Sony and Concord

According to a reputable insider, GirlGlitcher, Jason Blundell has now taken up a role as the head of a brand-new studio within Sony. This studio is producing a new game alongside Bungie that’s set to be an action title in a new science fantasy universe.

The claim suggests that Bungie had already been developing this particular game before Blundell’s arrival on the scene and likely before Sony started completely restructuring the studio from top to bottom.

Jason Blundell is working on a new game and is head of a new studio within Sony Studios. That new studio partnered up with Destiny 2's developer "Bungie". If you’re unaware, Blundell spent over a decade at Treyarch developing the legendary Call of Duty games before departing in 2020 to create his own studio, Deviation Games.

Deviation was allegedly working on a brand-new title for PlayStation Studios before it was hit with unfortunate layoffs and shut down in March 2024.

By bringing such talent, it appears Sony is trying to make something big, just like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and God of War. However, gamers aren’t hopeful as they feel the company is trying to create more weak titles like Concord.

Sounds like more trash like Concord, Sony better not wait 8 years before deciding to can if it looks like shit.

Although Sony and Bungie have been very secretive regarding this upcoming IP, new leaks may eventually surface as we get to the project’s completion, or one of the community members will figure it out somehow.

Concord’s Horrendous Start on Steam

Expectations for Concord were already low following its open beta period back in July, as the shooter failed to garner much interest among gamers. While there’s no way to know exactly how it’s performing on PlayStation 5, it has proven to be a massive failure in Valve’s service.

Sure, the game’s Steam reviews are mostly positive, but there’s little to no interest in the hero-shooter. Currently, there are only a little over 500 reviews on the platform, and according to Steam DB data, the game has only peaked at 597 players since its debut.

That’s absurd when you compare the game to Overwatch 2, which is one of the worst-reviewed titles on Steam. Despite that, it still manages to pull around 55,000 players daily.

The low player count is a big blow for PlayStation and Firewalk Studios. If the developers don’t act quickly and manage to increase the player count in the upcoming months, Concord might be in for a rough time.
