This time, it’s a tie-in with Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, arriving as SEGA celebrates the 35th anniversary of the iconic blue blur. As of now, the details on the crossover are thin as air, but we’ve dug through Reddit threads, Twitter posts, and other available information to piece together everything for you. Sonic x Fortnite Crossover: Release Date

As of now, Epic Games hasn’t confirmed any particular date or timeframe for the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds x Fortnite crossover. However, one thing’s for certain: the crossover will arrive before the end of 2026.

This is a special year for Sonic the Hedgehog, as the character celebrates his 35th anniversary. To mark the occasion, SEGA has lined up crossover events beyond Fortnite as well, which include the likes of Godzilla, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Magic: The Gathering. Fans of the franchise can also look forward to exclusive merchandise, special events, and plenty of other celebratory content throughout the year.

Before we begin, it’s worth keeping in mind that Epic Games has already rolled out a Sonic x Fortnite before. The previous team-ups have brought us Sonic-themed sneakers and car wraps. Unfortunately, Fortnite has yet to bring a proper Sonic character skin, and that’s something fans have been itching to see for years now.

However, all of that could change with the upcoming crossover. Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed, but there’s a chance that characters such as Sonic, Knuckles, Amy Rose, and Shadow the Hedgehog might receive playable skins. This is because Sonic is celebrating its 35th anniversary, and to celebrate, SEGA would want to do something big.

Over on Twitter/X, reputable insider HYPEX has also revealed that the new Sonic x Fortnite crossover around will include a gift-with-purchase from Epic Games Store. What this means is that when you purchase a game or an eligible item from the storefront, you’re going to be rewarded with an exclusive Sonic-themed Fortnite cosmetic.

There’s no confirmation of what this gift might be, but if we’re to take a guess, it could be a skin style, back bling, pickaxe, wrap, or another cosmetic type. Epic Games has done a similar promotion in the past with games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Crimson Desert, and Honkai: Star Rail.

Other than these bits, much of the crossover is still under wraps for now. However, as we get close to its launch, fans can expect additional leaks, insider reports, and official announcements from Epic Games and SEGA.
