  • Silent Hill 2 is now available on PlayStation 5 and PC.

The Silent Hill 2 Remake was finally released for the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms, and the gaming community did not waste a second getting through the main story. The original game was released 21 years ago, and Bloober Team faithfully remade everything from the ground up with Unreal Engine 5.

The game developers reimagined iconic villains like the Red Pyramid Thing and gave legacy fans a run for their money. This terrifying foe is armed with a long sword and hellbent to punish James Sunderland for his past sins. This is how to survive and beat Pyramid Head.

The Silent Hill 2 Remake Carried Over the Horror Elements of the Original

A still from Silent Hill 2.The remake is much more terrifying than the original in ways more than one.

The Bloober Team realized the cultural impact and significance of the original version of Silent Hill 2 on the gaming community and decided to give it a worthy remake featuring everything modern game development technology has to offer. This version could be closer to what the original developers had in mind if they were not limited to the technology of their time.

The story is essentially the same, and it follows James returning to Silent Hill to search for the whereabouts of his deceased wife. James and Mary had a connection to the eerie town, which later solidified after they visited the local museum, where the couple first laid eyes on the Red Pyramid Thing. Years later, it manifested into reality and tormented James of his past sins.

James will face this monster a few times in the remake, and players must have enough resources, such as ammunition and health items, to take it down.

Players can unlock a few firearms throughout the game, such as a handgun, a pump shotgun, and a hunting rifle, along with a few melee weapons like the wooden plank with nails and a steel pipe. The Pyramid Head is a powerful foe that will not fall easily without a fight.

How to Beat Pyramid Head

The Pyramid Head in Silent Hill 2.The bigger they are the harder they fall.

The Silent Hill 2 Remake made this enemy look and feel even more terrifying than the original game years ago. Players will face this boss more than once, and the best way to survive the first combat encounter is to keep your distance. The Pyramid Head is slow and sluggish, which gives James the advantage of making some distance away from the reach of his sword swings.

There are 6 instances where James faces the Red Pyramid Head, but the first encounter does not require players to fight it. The initial phase is easier than later encounters. Players should have plenty of handgun ammo, which is not as scarce in the standard difficulty.

Tip

Players should save their shotgun and rifle ammo for later encounters.

Players can damage this boss with a wooden plank; however, they should be mindful to perfectly time their dodges accordingly. Running away to a safe distance is a good option to stay safe from the sword attacks and unload their pistol into it by aiming for the head or body until it retreats at the Blue Creek Apartments.

The third encounter is at the Brookhaven Hospital, and this boss encounter is all about survival. Running away with Maria to reach the elevator and get away from the boss is the main objective relevant to James’ arc of running away from his past.

The fourth and fifth encounters are hosted at the Labyrinth and have the same basic principle of running rather than fighting this boss. The final encounter is at the Lakeview Hotel, and James will have to fight two different Pyramid Heads armed with spears. At this point, players will have collected a few more guns, like the shotgun and rifle, and have more options to fight.

With the lead pipe, James can swing away and shoot from a distance with a rifle. They can also get close and fire their shotgun, and after dealing enough damage, both enemies will die, and James will realize this monster is a figment of his creative imagination that is meant to torture and remind him of what he did.
