Of all the big 3 of Shonen, Masashi Kishimoto’s series reigns supreme with its creepy villains. From bloodlust to body modification, he brings out the sheer horror in Naruto. This holds with the part one series that terrorized every fan. The series outlined the most bone-chilling and eerie moments. Nothing, however, beats this character when it comes to diabolical tendencies.

Horror is an understatement when it comes to Orochimaru’s deeds in the series. Even Gaara’s bloodlust cannot compare to the Sannin’s war crimes. From creepy laughter to possession, he tops the chart in terms of his sinister nature. He is, by far, the most malicious character in the series according to fans.

Naruto excels among the Big 3 with this diabolical character

From Gaara’s bloodlust to Kimimaro’s bone plucking Naruto has its share of creepy moments. It is especially true with part one series that premiered 22 years ago. The art and fights are reminiscent of Kishimoto’s artistic brilliance. Even today, most fans look back and revisit some of the iconic moments in the series. This extends to the iconic villains that shaped our idea of horror.

Kishimoto outlined some dark and disturbing moments throughout his series. Chunin Exams Arc is a perfect example of that. With students sent to the fourth training ground, it was no less than a suicide mission. What makes this more disturbing is that most characters are aged 13. Nothing comes close to this character, who is boundless regarding his war crimes and bone-chilling persona.

It is no surprise that Orochimaru tops the chart, especially when it comes to his creepy and eerie demeanor. Even Reddit fans are haunted by the character’s creepy laughter.

Apart from the creepy laughter, Orochimaru stands as a benchmark. And not in a good way considering his war crimes. His character marks Kishimoto’s brilliance in redefining horror.

Masashi Kishimoto redefined horror through his writing of Orochimaru

Masashi Kishimoto exemplifies horror and terror through his writing of Orochimaru’s character. It’s not just the bone-chilling laughter but every aspect of his being. The Sannin is a true definition of horror and grotesque, especially through his body modification. And that is not all, considering his blood-curdling medical experiments. We have barely scratched the surface with this one.

His branding of young kids like Sasuke is nothing short of disturbing. But there’s more to it especially with his manipulation. It is tied well with the Uchiha’s zeal for strength and power. Undoubtedly, Sasuke’s duel with the creep is far more satisfying for the fans.

What’s interesting is that Kishimoto brings out every aspect of his name through his being. From his food preference to his skin shedding, the character is a true nightmare. He lives up to his identity as a snake in most aspects considering his body modifications. This, however, doesn’t negate his war crimes and disturbing deeds.

Nothing beats Orochimaru in terms of eeriness. To say the character is disturbing would be a complete understatement. It’s a crime that he got away with most of his deeds in Boruto. Most fans would agree with this. Regardless of that, Kishimoto succeeded in instilling fear in a whole generation through this character.

Naruto is available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The manga is available for reading on Viz Media.
