As we look back on her life, here is a remarkable story from her early years in Hollywood. After moving to Los Angeles to make her career in Hollywood, the actress moved right into the house where the infamous Mason family killings took place.

Tragedy often tends to leave an indelible mark on a place, transforming it into one with sweet memories to a chilling symbol of horror and loss. And the house where the pregnant wife of director Roman Polanski, Sharon Tate, and six others were murdered is no different.

However, for actress Olivia Hussey, who became famous for her role in Romeo and Juliet, this site of gruesome violence did not affect her at all, rather she felt an unusual sense of safety. In her memoir, The Girl on the Balcony: Olivia Hussey Finds Life After Romeo and Juliet, the actress stated (via The Guardian),

People would say, ‘How could you live there?’ I’d say it was actually the safest house in Hollywood. There was a button under the desk in the living room that buzzed directly to the Beverly Hills police. When you walked in there, there were no bad vibes or anything. All I felt was the sweetness of Sharon. I never felt afraid.

Moreover, she remarked how once she was making coffee when the District Attorney had Manson girl Linda Kasabian come over to give him a walkthrough of the attack. And that Abigail Folger was lying over there and she had lots of stab wounds— the actress heard her say but she did not flinch or move away.

However, just sometime later, the actress’ ex-boyfriend, who was pretty emotionally and physically abusive to her, dropped by the house and brutally attacked and r*ped her. She even ended up being pregnant but decided to get an abortion even though it broke her heart (via PEOPLE).
