Real Madrid transfer news: Clasico casts doubt on Alexander-Arnold and Dumfries futures

Jose Mourinho trusted Federico Valverde astatine right-back for the Clasico triumph implicit Barcelona (2-1), a determination that raises questions astir Trent Alexander-Arnold and Denzel Dumfries.

On 18 October, against Sevilla successful La Liga, the Portuguese brag had already discussed starting the Uruguayan successful defence successful beforehand of the media, insisting that it was ‘difficult’ to bash without ‘two high-level right-backs’ specified arsenic Alexander-Arnold and Dumfries, but that for that lucifer Real Madrid needed ‘a full-back susceptible of providing depth’.

But that proceedings was repeated connected Sunday 25 October, successful the biggest clash of the La Liga play truthful far, arsenic Valverde again got the motion up of the duo against Barcelona.

He besides performed alternatively well, with 4 interceptions, 2 recoveries and nary dribbles suffered. Above all, though, the prime reflects a decision for the Spanish nine successful the transportation marketplace implicit the past 2 years.

Is Trent Alexander-Arnold heading backmost to the Premier League?

Alexander-Arnold’s demotion continues. A fewer days ago, Team Talk reported that the Englishman was considering his aboriginal astatine Real Madrid.

The erstwhile Liverpool player, who came connected arsenic a midfielder against Barcelona, was already earnestly considering leaving, and his usage against Barcelona should not constituent him successful immoderate absorption different than an exit.

Team Talk revealed that respective English clubs, specified arsenic Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool, were considering a instrumentality to the Premier League for Alexander-Arnold.

But when? It seems hard to judge that Real Madrid would hold to portion with a substitute who does play, each the same, with 7 appearances and 4 starts, successful the mediate of winter. And, besides, what is present the marketplace worth of the champion right-back successful the satellite successful 2024, earlier his determination to Madrid?

Signed for £8.5m (€10m) a period earlier his declaration expired, the England international, who missed the 2026 World Cup, is successful escaped fall, but Real Madrid are not expected to merchantability him cheaply, with a fig of £51m (€60m) reportedly circulating connected the marketplace to prise him away.

Is Denzel Dumfries the perfect replacement for Real Madrid?

Used much often than the Englishman by Mourinho this season, with 10 matches and 7 starts, Dumfries besides dropped down Valverde against Barcelona (2-1). But the Dutchman appears to person little to interest astir than Alexander-Arnold: erstwhile it came to replacing the Uruguayan, the Portuguese brag brought connected the erstwhile Inter player.

Signed for £17m (€20m) successful the past summertime transportation window, Dumfries raised less expectations connected his arrival. The disappointment implicit his level is truthful smaller, and his departure looks little obvious.

That is particularly the lawsuit arsenic the subordinate is older (30) than Alexander-Arnold (28) and, connected the look of it, little apt to pull interest, successful the Premier League for example. Under declaration until June 2030, the Netherlands planetary with 80 caps present appears to beryllium a lawman archetypal choice, down Valverde successful the large games, and successful the starting line-up the remainder of the time.

His concern could alteration successful the coming months but, astatine present, a departure from Real Madrid does not look to beryllium connected the docket for Dumfries.
