Köln and Union Berlin will face twice in the space of five days as their first clash gives Rene Wagner's side a home advantage in a cup tie.

Köln

Köln's unbeaten home run extended with a goalless draw with newly-promoted Schalke on Saturday. René Wagner's men had the better chances, but they failed to find a way to beat Loris Karius in Schalke’s goal.

All 18 Bundesliga clubs advanced to the second round, but the four-time cup winners were trailing 3. Liga outfit Würzburger Kickers by half-time. Isak Johannesson scored his first brace for the club to avoid an early cupset.

Union Berlin

Union Berlin also had to rely on a comeback victory in their first game of the season as Eintracht Braunschweig led twice before eventually losing the tie 4-2 at Eintracht-Stadion. Debutant Zeno Van Den Bosch scored the club's first goal under Mauro Lustrinelli before substitute Marin Ljubicic added a brace and an assist.

The capital city club drew with Augsburg on matchday 7 of Bundesliga in a game both sides finished with ten players. Felix Uduokhai’s early red card against his former club could've been damaging, but Janik Haberer’s scrappy goal sealed a point for the visitors.

Team News

Uduokhai will miss Sunday's Bundesliga clash between the two teams due to suspension, but he's also unavailable for Tuesday because of an injury. Ragnar Ache could be set for his return from injury for Köln.
