Prince Harry is paying attention to things dear to his heart amid his viral visit to the United Kingdom!

The Duke of Sussex arrived in his home country on July 6 and has begun making public appearances, with one of his first stops at a charity he helped fund in the past.

Prince Harry is currently in the UK for a 10-day visit filled with engagements related to the 2027 Invictus Games, as he continues to deal with tension within his family over the provision of security.

Inside Prince Harry’s Visit To Birmingham Children’s Hospital

The prince made time to visit a few of his loved ones at the hospital on Thursday, July 9, as part of his WellChild patron duties. Harry was appointed a patron of WellChild in 2007 and has continued to attend their events in the UK, even after he relocated to the United States.

This time, the Duke was in the building to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the pioneering WellChild Nurse, created in 2006 with Harry as one of its major funders. The initiative was designed to provide support to children with pressing medical needs and their families, both at the hospital and at home.

Harry delivered a rousing speech at last year’s annual awards, which also coincided with the third anniversary of his grandmother’s death, in which he raved about his strong ties to the organization.

As shared by PEOPLE, Harry continued in his speech that he still vividly remembers the love and energy that consumed him at the first WellChild Awards 18 years ago.

“The world has thrown a fair few challenges our way. But through it all, WellChild has remained rock solid in its mission: to give children and young people with complex medical needs the chance to thrive, not in hospital, but at home, surrounded by family, friends and community,” Harry shared.

Harry’s visit was rocked by an early scandal of a dilemma surrounding his arranged accommodation in the United Kingdom. In fact, the offer was reportedly revoked after the prince failed to respond promptly, although his camp denied it was his fault.

A former royal butler, Grant Harrold, said the development was upsetting for the royal family, as it indicated that the breakdown in the king’s relationship with Harry had become very serious.

As reported by The Blast, the butler added that the king is beyond heartbroken at the development and sees it as a mess that has exposed the intricacies of their relationship.

“It’s incredibly embarrassing for his father, who has yet again tried to offer Harry an olive branch. Harry has repeatedly slapped the king in the face, which is a great shame,” Harrold continued. He added that it may also mean that Harry’s visit to London, after he fulfills his duties with the Invictus Games, is done for good.

While earlier reports suggested that the prince would arrive in the country on Monday, July 6, with Meghan Markle and their two children, that did not turn out to be the case. Following his lone sighting, the story shifted to the possibility that Harry would be joined later in the week by his loved ones.

Now, that may no longer happen due to unresolved security issues that cannot guarantee round-the-clock protection for the couple and their kids outside their royal apartment. The visit may have also been further thwarted following the controversy over the offer of accommodation being revoked at the last hour.

As for some insiders, the offer of accommodation in the first place was reportedly not intended to go ahead, and the sincerity of the palace’s motives is seriously in doubt.

Some quarters feel it was grossly unfair to Harry for the offer to be taken away after he attempted to accept it, which means all has never been really well within the family.

Harry Previously Supported His Longtime Pal In His First UK Outing

Shortly after the father-of-two touched down in his home country, he headed to the premiere of Misan Harriman’s new documentary, “Shoot the People.” The Blast shared that Harry was spotted wearing a bright smile at the premiere, sending a strong message about his readiness to enjoy himself during his visit.

Harry also took pictures with filmmaker Andy Mundy-Castle and British writer and broadcaster Afua Hirsch at the event. Harriman has been a longtime supporter of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, standing by them throughout the criticism they faced as they exited the United Kingdom.

On July 7, the Duke of Sussex released a joint statement with a fellow claimant, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, in response to the dismissal of the lawsuit against the press.
