According to court filings submitted this week and reviewed by TMZ, Erika and Charlie Kirk’s parents traveled to Utah to attend the preliminary hearing and witness the proceedings firsthand.

The family said they wanted to observe the evidence related to the death of their husband and son. However, Erika argues that several exhibits introduced during testimony were not made publicly available inside the courtroom, leaving attendees unable to fully understand or evaluate portions of the evidence being discussed.

In the filing, she claimed the practice prevented family members and members of the public from meaningfully observing portions of the hearing. As a result, Erika is asking the court to make previously admitted exhibits accessible to everyone present in the courtroom and to require the same standard moving forward.

Authorities allege Robinson fired the fatal shot from a rooftop approximately 200 feet away from where Kirk was speaking on the Utah Valley University campus. After a 33-hour search, Robinson surrendered to law enforcement and was subsequently charged with aggravated murder and several additional felonies.

Prosecutors have also pointed to DNA evidence that they say connects Robinson to the firearm used in the shooting. Robinson’s defense team, however, has challenged the reliability of that DNA evidence and has questioned aspects of the investigation.

Robinson has not yet entered a plea. His attorneys have indicated they plan to call their own witnesses as they challenge the prosecution’s version of events.
