Langley RCMP say shortly after 4:30 a.m., there were reports of a person in distress on Fraser Highway between 232 and 240 streets.

Officers found a pedestrian with injuries after being struck by a vehicle. The driver did not remain at the collision site.

The pedestrian died at the scene despite first responders’ efforts.

Road closures are in effect in the area and are expected to remain in place for several hours Saturday.

Motorists and other users should use alternative routes.
