A 41-year-old Ottawa man is confirmed deceased following a boating mishap Saturday night on the St. Lawrence River.

Provincial police in Leeds County detachment said the incident occurred at about 10 p.m. when a 15-foot aluminum boat capsized north of Grenadier Island in the Thousand Islands chain.

One individual was unaccounted for and was later located by the Leeds 1000 Islands Fire Service.

The man was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

Police said the investigation is continuing.
