One Piece just dropped multiple surprises in a single package. Right after the main One Piece Day ’26 stream wrapped up on August 23, 2026, the official One Piece staff account on X posted a title reveal for not one but two new movies.

The first is One Piece Film: God Valley, landing in summer 2027. The second one is way more mysterious: One Piece Film: Baad, which is set for a later release. While God Valley already has a clear plot hook, there is a lot of mystery surrounding Baad. So, we have compiled everything we know about this movie as of August 23, 2026. Let’s dive in.

Is There a Release Window for One Piece Film Baad?

Right now, all we’ve got is “2029.” No month, no season, nothing more specific. This is not a random date, however, as it matters because 2029 marks the TV anime’s 30th anniversary (as per the official website), since it first aired back in 1999.

That’s most probably why this movie is landing that year instead of sooner. Compare that to God Valley, which already has a “summer 2027” window tied to the manga’s own 30th anniversary. This one clearly got less spotlight in the announcement, and that tracks, since God Valley is releasing first and needs the bigger marketing push right now.

What Is This Film Going to Be About?

Honestly, nobody knows yet. Unlike God Valley, whose title instantly tells fans it’s about the God Valley Incident, Baad doesn’t match any known location, arc, or character in the story so far. In fact, the aesthetic of the font makes it look like a completely different project detached from One Piece’s canon world, just like the previous movies.

There’s no synopsis, nor are there any returning characters confirmed. The one real detail we have is that the title logo was hand-drawn by creator Eiichiro Oda himself. That’s usually a sign he’s personally involved in the project, similar to how he’s closely supervised past films.

However, there is a lot of speculation going around. We can see that the letter “D” looks slightly bigger and bolder than the rest, which is actually sparking theories that it could tie into the “Will of D.”, something that we still do not know anything about. Note that this little theory is a speculation.

How Baad Fits Into the God Valley Announcement

Baad wasn’t announced on its own. It came as a surprise add-on right after God Valley, during the same One Piece Day ’26 broadcast. Both movies are being positioned as the franchise’s big follow-ups to One Piece Film: Red, which came out back in 2022.

Announcing two movies at once, three years apart, is something the franchise has never done before. In fact, it is rare for any franchise to do this. It signals Toei is planning out its theatrical slate way ahead of time, especially now that the TV anime has slowed down to a maximum of 26 episodes a year.
