In the world of Skyrim modding, few things are as impressive as a well-executed voice mod. But what if you could take that concept to the next level and voice your character in real-time, using nothing but a microphone? That’s exactly what one talented Twitch streamer has done, and the results are nothing short of remarkable.
Blurbs, a self-described “ex-software engineer turned full-time content creator,” has been causing a stir in the Skyrim community with his innovative mods. But his latest creation might just be his most impressive yet.
Blurbs Becomes a Skyrim Vtuber
In a recent tweet, the streamer shared a montage of clips from his latest streams, showcasing a mod that allows him to voice his Skyrim character simply by speaking into his microphone.
The result is a sort of Elder Scrolls vtuber, with Blurbs’ character walking around the world, lip-syncing near-perfectly to his every word—a feat that gaming giants like Ubisoft seem to be struggling to achieve even today.
I modded Skyrim to let me voice the main character just by talking into my microphone.
Naturally, I started doing "IRL streams" from WITHIN Skyrim. And yes, my Twitch chat is still voicing the surrounding NPCs.
Honestly, this might be some of my best work yet. pic.twitter.com/JcLO6jjau8
Naturally, the mod has been met with widespread praise from the gaming community, with many calling it one of the most impressive things they’ve ever seen:
This is one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen
— Apollo (@yoapolloapp) August 28, 2024Others have pointed out the undeniable similarity to a certain genre of streamers:
Congratulations you’re now a Vtuber
— Incredbile Gurren (@Gurren621) August 28, 2024But Blurbs’ mod doesn’t just stop at voicing the main character. In a nod to his previous viral hit, the “Text-to-Skyrim” mod, he has also incorporated the ability for his Twitch chat to voice the surrounding NPCs. The result is a truly immersive and hilarious experience, with the content creator interacting with a world populated by characters scripted by his viewers.
The Future of Bethesda Modding?
Of course, this latest creation has also reignited the conversation around the future of modding in Bethesda games. With fans eagerly awaiting any new information regarding the next installment in The Elder Scrolls series, it’s hard not to wonder just how far modders will be able to push the game’s engine:
Please make ES6 Todd the people are ripping Skyrim apart
— 玉林:狐狸模式 (@JadewoodBeast) August 28, 2024While it’s unlikely that Bethesda will incorporate real-time voice modding into the base game, Blurbs’ mod has certainly shown what’s possible with a little ingenuity and a lot of hard work. And with the modding community as passionate and dedicated as ever, it’s safe to say that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be in good hands.
As for Blurbs, it’s clear that he’s just getting started.
With each new mod, he pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in the game, undoubtedly inspiring a new generation of modders to follow in his footsteps. And we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next!
