TSG Hoffenheim has extended Wouter Burger's contract ahead of schedule, tying him down to a long-term deal in Sinsheim.

The Dutch star is now the ninth professional from the current squad to commit to the Bundesliga club this calendar year.

Burger joined from Stoke City in the summer of 2025 and immediately became a key player and an instant success his first season.

At the end of last campaign, the midfielder had made 32 appearances in all competitions with five goals and nine assists.

“The contract extension is an impressive sign of continuity and a signal of our growing appeal to ambitious players,” says sporting director Andreas Schicker.

“Wouter impressed us from day one and was a key factor in our successful season. With his physicality and understanding of the game, he is an absolute leader both defensively and offensively.

"Wouter has matured, on and off the pitch. His development is not yet complete, and we are delighted that he has explicitly committed to our TSG path despite other offers.”
