So it should come as no surprise that a new mini moon now circling our planet has attracted the attention of those who look to the skies for guidance in matters of love.

The mini moon, which will stick around until the end of November, is an asteroid that will enhance the emotional effects of our moon, according to astrologist Brenna Keeley, who explains that “our moon sign, according to astrology, affects our emotions and our inner world.”

So what does that all mean when it comes to finding that special someone?

“Many singles are curious about what the debut of the mini moon could have in store for their dating lives,” Jess O’Reilly, Tinder Canada’s relationship expert, told The Toronto Sun.

“We’ve continued to see astrology emerge as a hot celestial topic for several reasons, one of the most prominent being that astrology can be seen as a ‘guide’ for singles who are often dealing with uncertainty in their romantic lives and connections, and looking for answers,” she detailed.

However, it should be noted that for those who scoff at astrology, there are many people who truly trust in it, so the topic could very well come up on a date.

“Our individual signs can be gateways to learning more about our personalities — how we think, how we feel, and even how we operate in relationships, so knowing even a little bit about astrology can be a big difference in singles’ approach to dating and relationship-building,” O’Reilly said.

If anything, she added, it makes for a great conversation starter or can enhance a dating profile, whether you’re into it or not.

“When astrological profiles highlight something about your personality, expectations, behaviour or experience, you may find yourself more likely to reflect, take action or talk about what you’re feeling with a friend,” O’Reilly explained.

“This introspection and communication can lead to new perspectives — whether you agree with astrological predictions or not.”

As for whether astrology and dating go hand-in-hand with karma and compatibility, O’Reilly said she believes that many people use their zodiac signs as a guide for understanding personality traits, communication styles and emotional needs in relationships.

“The allure of marrying astrology and dating is that it can provide a sense of connection and self-awareness, and sometimes even comfort,” she added, “offering an additional dimension to how people think about their relationships.”
