According to FlixPatrol’s US streaming chart for October 22, 2026, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners occupies the No. 5 spot after dropping four spots on Netflix’s TV chart, ahead of Below at No. 6 and East of Eden at No. 8. FlixPatrol’s daily rankings track chart positions, not exact viewing hours or the number of people watching.

The standalone sequel premiered on October 20, with all ten episodes available at once. That gives viewers the opportunity to binge the entire story rather than wait for weekly installments, potentially concentrating its initial viewing activity into a short window.

Now, this is not a direct continuation of David Martinez’s story. The new series follows an entirely different cast of mercenaries in the same brutal metropolis, weaving together the lives of a veteran edgerunner, a young cinephile, a chrome-obsessed delinquent, and a netrunner connected to Snake Nation. Its central themes remain redemption and revenge, but the new characters have their own reasons to risk everything in a city where survival rarely comes cheap.

Studio TRIGGER and CD Projekt Red have reunited, with Kai Ikarashi directing, Kanno Ichigo serving as lead character designer, and Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor returning as showrunner, story writer, and producer. Masahiko Otsuka is another returning creative collaborator. The official announcement confirms that the project was conceived as a standalone ten-episode story.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Set to Outstream Original’s Netflix Success

The original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has a much tougher benchmark than one day at the top of a streaming chart. Released on September 13, 2022, the ten-episode anime initially attracted attention before building a larger audience through word of mouth. Netflix’s official weekly report recorded 14.88 million hours viewed during its debut week on the global non-English TV list. In the following week, it accumulated another 13.76 million hours, according to Netflix’s September 19 weekly report.

The original’s legacy extends well beyond streaming numbers. Edgerunners won Anime of the Year at the 2023 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, beating nominees including SPY x FAMILY and Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc. Its success also helped revive interest in Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red reported that the game had surpassed 20 million copies purchased by the end of September 2022, shortly after the anime’s arrival.

That is the real challenge facing Edgerunners 2. The original became more than a successful adaptation; it helped reshape the public conversation around a franchise that had struggled with its video game’s launch. The sequel inherits that recognition, but it must establish its own cultural footprint rather than rely on nostalgia.

The October 22 FlixPatrol chart places the franchise on Netflix’s US Top 10 TV list, but the available listing does not isolate the sequel’s viewing figures. Netflix has yet to provide comparable official weekly viewing totals for Edgerunners 2. If it sustains its chart presence and posts strong official viewing totals over subsequent weeks, the conversation about surpassing its predecessor will become considerably more convincing.
