CBS has officially ordered a new NCIS series set to premiere this fall (via Paramount Press Express). The recently announced 2026–2027 schedule from the network also revealed that it will air on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m., in between NCIS, which starts at 8 p.m., and NCIS: Origins at 10 p.m.
According to the official synopsis, the spinoff will follow Agent Sam Hanna, who returns to his hometown in New York City and partners up with a roguish agent. Together, they will lead a team tasked to defend one of the world’s most important cities.
Hanna is a familiar character to fans, having appeared in the original show and later starring as a co-lead in NCIS: Los Angeles. He has also made appearances across other spin-offs, so it is only fitting that he takes the lead in this new project.
Byron Balasco will serve as the spinoff’s showrunner; Scott Gemmill, who is the genius behind 14 seasons of NCIS: Los Angeles, writes the pilot episode for NCIS: New York.
