Mina the Hollower: How to Get to Bone Beach

Are you trying to reach Bone Beach in Mina the Hollower? The area is a pretty tough one to find, but also important because it’s home to one of the game’s six Spark Generators. Unlike the regions that you’ve been to before this point, Bone Beach is hidden behind several cave networks, environmental puzzles, and the Sandfalls area.

It’s easy to miss the correct route, especially since the game encourages exploration and doesn’t provide much direct guidance. So if you’re struggling to find the path, here’s a complete walkthrough explaining how to reach Bone Beach in Mina the Hollower and what you’ll need to do inside the Sandfalls area to find it.

Reaching Sandfalls is the First Step to Bone Beach

You’ll want to start this journey from Ossex. Leave the city through the southern gate and enter the Southern Outskirts. From the first screen south of the city, head east toward the cave system instead of continuing along the main route.

Inside the caves, you’ll find the pink Puff Plants that you can use as bounce pads. Use them to move deeper into the network, and when necessary, burrow underneath a Puff Plant to reposition it and create new jumping routes. Continue following the path through the caves until you can go back outside.

After climbing out of the cave, head south and defeat any enemies blocking your path. You should have a good weapon by now. You’ll soon find another Puff Plant puzzle. Move the plant into position, use it to reach the southern ledge, and lower the nearby rope to create a shortcut for the next time you’ll be here.

Continue east, pass the large mouse-like guard, and enter another cave. This section has invisible platforms, but the glowing dots on the ground reveal where they are located. Carefully cross the hidden pathways and activate the switch in the next chamber before exiting.

You’ll find a save point in an Underlab nearby. From there, take the southern route to enter Sandfalls.

Before proceeding, make sure you have at least three Plasma Vials, as you’ll need them later to unlock the final path into Bone Beach. You might also find jumping-enhancing items like the Pit Preserver useful for going through the area, although they are not strictly required.

How to Unlock Bone Beach in Mina the Hollower

The main objective in Sandfalls is to open the sealed central passage. To do this, you’ll need to destroy several mine carts loaded with TNT by carrying bombs to them before their fuses expire.

The first set of TNT can be cleared using a bomb found in the southern part of the region. Time your throw carefully so the bomb lands near the explosives rather than falling into a pit. Once the TNT detonates, you’ll gain access to additional sections of the map.

Further in, you’ll find more bomb puzzles with more moving platforms, spikes, quicksand, and narrow ledges. Several mine cart barricades are scattered throughout the area, and each must be destroyed to fully open the route. Fortunately, once a TNT chain has been detonated, it remains permanently cleared.

One of the larger puzzle sections is located in the northwest portion of Sandfalls, where a bomb can be used to destroy multiple TNT carts at once if delivered quickly enough. Another set is hidden behind moving quicksand in the southeast. Successfully clearing these obstacles eventually opens access to the Bone Beach Train Station and the final TNT barrier.

After every TNT cart has been destroyed, return to the central gate and spend three Plasma Vials to unlock the passage leading into the Miner’s Den.

Inside, you’ll face Major Miner, the area’s boss. He attacks with powerful pickaxe swings, shockwaves, falling rocks, spinning charges, and groups of miner minions. An important mechanic during the fight is preventing him from consuming his helpers to regain health. Burrowing beneath the smaller enemies allows you to pick them up and throw them back at the boss for extra damage.

Defeat Major Miner, head through the southern exit, and you’ll finally arrive at Bone Beach, unlocking the next major region in Mina the Hollower.
