Brampton man accused of child luring; pair allegedly caught with firearms in Ajax; and boy, 14, charged in Pickering robbery

A late-night crash near Casa Loma ended with a sports car propped against a wall, the driver arrested and two people injured.
Emergency crews were called to Spadina Rd. and Austin Terrace, near Davenport Rd., just before midnight on Thursday after a bright orange McLaren struck a bike rack.

Two McLarens were seen at the scene, though only one was involved in the crash. It is unclear if the second sports car was involved.
A man and a woman were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, paramedics told City News.
Toronto Police told 680 NewsRadio that the driver of the crashed McLaren was arrested for impaired driving.
No additional details about the crash or those involved have been released.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, police said.

Woman, 87, arrested for aggravated assault in Ajax
An 87-year-old woman has been hit with assault charges in Ajax.
Durham Regional Police say officers responded to an assist ambulance call on Thursday evening at a residence in the Keeble Cr. and Bennett Ave. area of the city where they found a female with life-threatening injuries.
She was taken to a trauma centre in critical condition.
Officers soon discovered another resident of the home that had allegedly assaulted the victim earlier in the day and inflicted the traumatic injuries.
The senior, who has not been named to protect the identity of the victim, was taken into custody without incident and charged with aggravated assault, police said.
The accused is being held for a bail hearing.
The victim is now in serious but stable condition.

Brampton man arrested for child luring
A months-long investigation by Halton Regional Police’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit ended with an arrest on Thursday.
Joseph Hunter, 61, of Brampton, faces a number of sex-related charges, including possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, making child sexual abuse and exploitation material and invitation to sexual touching, as well as two counts of luring a child under 16.
The accused was also the subject of a similar investigation by Hamilton Police that contributed to the criminal charges.
He was being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Investigators are concerned there may be more victims.

Two arrested over firearms and stolen plates in Ajax
A man and woman have been charged after firearms were allegedly found inside a vehicle with stolen licence plates in Ajax.

Durham Regional Police say officers responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle with no lights driving onto a property in the area of Finley Ave. and Clements Rd. W. at about 5:45 a.m. on Thursday.
When cops arrived, a female was found in the vehicle, which was allegedly determined to be stolen.
A male was later located on the property – allegedly with break-and-enter tools, drugs and shotgun shells in his possession.
A search of the vehicle allegedly located a shotgun and an imitation firearm.
Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.
Daniel Alexander Cabarios, 40, of Toronto, faces a slew of break-and-enter and firearm charges. He was already bound by a weapons prohibition, cops said.
Corrine Elizabeth Butler, 45, also of Toronto, has been charged with occupying a vehicle with a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, break-and-enter, and possessing break-in instruments.
Both accused were held in custody while awaiting a bail hearing.

Boy, 14, arrested for armed robbery
A teenage boy has been arrested and two suspects are still sought for an armed robbery in Pickering earlier this year.
Durham Regional Police say officers responded to call in the area of Westcreek Dr. and Pine Grove Ave. on Jan. 29 from a male youth who arranged to meet another male youth to purchase shoes.
Instead, the victim was confronted by three males wearing masks, one of whom was armed and demanded cash.
The victim was not physically harmed.
The three males fled before police arrived, however one boy was arrested at a high school in Barrie on Tuesday.
The 14-year-old Barrie boy was charged with robbery with a firearm, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
