Season 8 of Marvel Rivals commences on May 15, and NetEase has already laid out the game’s roadmap through June 12. Between Devil Dinosaur’s arrival, a new Doom Match map, multiple events, weekly costume drops, and the highly anticipated release of Cyclops in Season 8.5, there’s already quite a bit packed into the first half of the season.

The overall structure is pretty on-brand for Marvel Rivals at this point. NetEase has consistently liked opening new seasons strong, and Season 8 is no exception. The launch update alone brings a new Vanguard hero, battle pass, cosmetics, accessories, and a seasonal event, with more content arriving almost every Friday afterward.
On that note, here’s everything coming to Marvel Rivals Season 8 before the mid-season update arrives next month.

Season 8 officially opens with Devil Dinosaur joining Marvel Rivals as the game’s newest Vanguard hero alongside the launch of the Project: Heroic Age battle pass and the Devil Dino Hide and Seek seasonal event.
Here’s everything that went live on May 15:
- New hero: Devil Dinosaur (Vanguard)
- New battle pass: Project: Heroic Age
- New event: Devil Dino Hide and Seek
- New accessories (Devil Dinosaur, The Thing, Black Widow, Angela, Hela, Namor, and The Punisher)
- New costumes: Devil Dinosaur (Chromo Armor), Deadpool (King of Monsters), Hulk (Infinity Hulk)
The Project: Heroic Age battle pass itself looks pretty solid on paper, featuring a fairly varied spread of (primarily) Vanguard and Strategist heroes across its cosmetic lineup, including:
- Rogue
- Gambit
- Magneto
- The Thing
- Human Torch
- Thor
- Captain America
- Mantis
- Star-Lord
And then there’s Jeff the Land Shark wearing a Devil Dinosaur costume, which is somehow both ridiculous and immediately one of the most charming cosmetics in the pass.
Marvel Rivals Season 8: May 22 Content Drop
Hela is set to break the internet with her Savage Land skin. | Credits: NetEase GamesThe second weekly update of Season 8 introduces a brand-new Event Pass alongside two more hero skins:
- New Event Pass: Savage Adventures
- New costumes: Peni Parker (ESU College Life), Daredevil (Shadowed Start)
The Event Pass itself also appears to include a Formula R-themed Luna Snow skin, a Savage Land-themed Hela costume that fits nicely with the season’s overall “prehistoric” aesthetic, and a prismatic Ultron recolor.
Meanwhile, Daredevil’s Shadowed Start skin is already shaping up to be one of the more popular cosmetics on the roadmap. Players have been asking for a darker street-level look for the hero ever since he joined the game back in Season 4.
Marvel Rivals Season 8: May 29 Content Drop
Alchemax Headquarters enters the map pool. | Credits: NetEase Games/YouTubeMay 29 is bringing the season’s first new map alongside another pair of costumes:
- New map: Alchemax Headquarters (Doom Match)
- New costumes: Black Cat (Formula R), Wolverine (Corporate Raiders)
Unlike Lower Manhattan from Season 7, which is a Convergence map, Alchemax Headquarters will be joining the Doom Match rotation instead.
For anyone unfamiliar, Doom Match is essentially Marvel Rivals’ free-for-all mode. A lot of players typically use it to warm up before ranked matches, practice mechanics, test heroes, or just mess around casually for a while, so new Doom Match maps tend to slot into the game a bit differently than objective-focused maps do.
Marvel Rivals Season 8: June 5 Content Drop

- New costumes: Iron Man (Iron Samurai), Mantis (ESU College Life)
No new event or gameplay content has been announced for June 5, which is pretty understandable considering the mid-season update arrives just one week later on June 12.
That said, Iron Man’s Iron Samurai skin is easily the standout here, while Mantis officially joining the ESU College Life lineup felt more like a matter of time than anything else.
Marvel Rivals June 12 Update: Season 8.5 Goes Live
“To me, my X-Men!” | Credits: NetEase Games/YouTubeSeason 8.5 officially launches on June 12, though NetEase is still keeping most of the update under wraps for now. What we already know from the official season trailer, however, is that Cyclops is finally joining Marvel Rivals as a playable hero—a tease that has also restarted the ongoing Duelist vs Vanguard debate surrounding the character.
A huge portion of the community seems convinced Cyclops will end up as a Duelist simply because optic blasts naturally fit the role on paper. At the same time, plenty of players are still holding out hope that NetEase surprises everyone and makes him a Vanguard instead.
That conversation has only gotten louder because, even with Devil Dinosaur arriving in the first half of the season, the Vanguard roster continues to feel noticeably thinner than Duelist overall.
For now, though, NetEase is keeping the rest of the Season 8.5 update fairly quiet. But if previous roadmap cycles are anything to go by, you won’t have to wait too long before the full reveal arrives.
Here’s the full Marvel Rivals Season 8 roadmap at a glance:
| May 15 | • Devil Dinosaur (new hero) • Project: Hero Age battle pass • Devil Dino Hide and Seek event • New accessories • Chromo Armor, King of Monsters, and Infinity Hulk costumes |
| May 22 | • Savage Adventures Event Pass • ESU College Life (Peni Parker) • Shadowed Start (Daredevil) |
| May 29 | • Alchemax Headquarters Doom Match map • Formula R (Black Cat) • Corporate Raiders (Wolverine) |
| June 5 | • Iron Samurai (Iron Man) • ESU College Life (Mantis) |
| June 12 | • Season 8.5 launch with Cyclops |
And finally, here are a few quick answers to the biggest questions surrounding Marvel Rivals Season 8:
When does Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 release?
Season 8.5 officially launches on June 12, 2026, as confirmed by NetEase Games with the roadmap announcement.
Is Cyclops confirmed for Marvel Rivals Season 8.5?
Yes. Cyclops was first teased in the final gallery card of the Season 7 battle pass alongside Devil Dinosaur before appearing as the central hero in the official Season 8 cinematic trailer unveiled on May 12 (via YouTube). The trailer itself is also absolutely worth watching if you haven’t already; NetEase really cooked with the animation this time around.
What type of map is Alchemax Headquarters?
Alchemax Headquarters is being added as a map for the Doom Match game mode on May 29, 2026. You won’t see it in your Quick Match or Competitive matches, as it is not an objective-based map like Lower Manhattan from Season 7.
Is Devil Dino Hide and Seek a new game mode?
Not necessarily. NetEase has only confirmed it as a seasonal event so far, with no official confirmation yet that it’s a full standalone gameplay mode. Right now, it appears to be more of a seasonal event tied to missions, progression, lore, and free rewards.
Which part of the Season 8 roadmap are you most looking forward to, and what role do you think Cyclops will ultimately end up in when he finally joins the roster? Let us know in the comments below!
