NO LONGER TORONTO THE GREAT

Re “Eras Tour concerts expected to generate massive $282M for city” (Mark Daniell, Oct. 16): Destination Toronto is gleeful over the anticipated boost the Taylor Swift concert will bring to our economy. I hope all those fans are aware that Toronto is the third-worst city in the world for getting around. As a resident of Greater Toronto, I once routinely went downtown for meals and shows. Now, with the bike lanes, unreliable public transit and exorbitant cost for parking, I tend to stay in my own little neck of the woods, as do my friends. If we could solve these problems, Torontonians wouldn’t have to rely on occasional events to keep our economy healthy. Over to you, Olivia Chow.

FORD THWARTS LEFTISTS’ AGENDA

Re “Cities will have to seek provincial approval before swapping car lanes for bikes” (Bryan Passifiume, Oct. 16): I and most likely the majority of long-suffering GTA motorists applaud the premier’s stand. Toronto, being Ontario’s capital, belongs to all Ontarians. It is galling that a small bunch of leftists impose their agenda on the majority. Ontario Liberals, NDP and Greens should remember that if the majority of MPPs vote to repeal the city’s charter, they can’t do a thing but a long-dragging lawsuit. Stop imposing their agenda.

NAME NAMES

Justin Trudeau is great at throwing out allegations. The bottom line is that he is in charge. If he knows of foreign interference and culpability in any party, it is his job to make sure the RCMP investigates and charges are laid, if warranted. And under oath, he said he knows who is compromised. How long will it be before he claims that all of those Liberals who are behind the movement to have him step aside are all working on behalf of foreign governments? That seems to be his game plan.
