Now that our prime minister has demonstrated his willingness to achieve his cherished majority by hook or by crook, it was a fait accompli even before the byelections put the icing on the cake. We all better get used to a Liberal majority: We’re gonna be stuck with this bunch now — not just for three years but for the next decade. And you wonder why Alberta is ready to cry uncle. It was once said Robert Stanfield was the best prime minister we never had. The same fate may very well befall Pierre Poilievre!

Re “Legendary Leafs broadcaster calls his final game in Toronto” (Steve Simmons, April 14): A class act took place before the last home game of the Maple Leafs on Monday. “Holy mackinaw” Joe Bowen, retiring after 44 years broadcasting Leafs games, was seated in the front row of the team’s year-end team photo. A well-deserved recognition.
