Ahead of the Season 1 finale of DCU’s Lanterns, there has been some terrible news about the development of Season 2. Although the show hasn’t officially been renewed for a second season, it is almost certain that the DCU show will not end with a single season.
However, ahead of the season finale, a report from Nexus Point News has alleged that none of the writers of the first season will be coming back to write the second season, except for one. It has been reported that Vanessa Baden Kelly, who wrote or co-wrote two episodes in season 1, will be the only person returning to the writers’ room for Season 2.
Who Are The New Writers for Lanterns Season 2?
A still from Lanterns | Credits: DC StudiosCo-created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, Lanterns Season 1 followed the mystery surrounding the murder of Hal Jordan. With a total of eight episodes to its name, the series found much fame and acclaim in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU.
However, the news alleges that Mundy, Lindelof, and Tom King will not be writing for Season 2. Instead, there are some new people in the writers room who will have a hand in writing or co-writing several episodes of the almost-confirmed Season 2.
Christopher Cantwell, who is the writer of Marvel’s Doctor Doom comics, is alleged to be involved in Season 2 of Lanterns. Cantwell will also reportedly be joined by Nakkiah Lui, Zack Whedon (Joss Whedon’s brother, who directed DCEU’s Justice League), Selwyn Sefu Hinds, and Vanessa Baden Kelly (from Season 1).
Although this is not the best time to rearrange a writers’ room, it is possible that certain situations might have caused these events, but the show must go on.
What This Means For Lanterns Season 2

Expect the tonality of Lanterns Season 2 to be changed, and the murder-mystery thriller might be replaced with action-packed scenes or some adrenaline-inducing moments.
Of course, nothing can be confirmed about what the next season of the Hal Jordan show is going to be, but there is almost a certainty that it will not be similar to the first season in terms of several things.
Although this allegedly changed writers’ room promises great opportunities for experimentation and/or having fun while making a potentially iconic series, there is always a risk of ruining things that other people worked so hard to make in a particular way.
