It was 8 December 1997 when Tredre passed away after a serious fight with bone cancer. Kate Winslet was devastated. 9 days away from the premiere of the biggest movie of her life, the actress had lost the love of her life and she didn’t know what to do.
According to The Guardian, the actress decided to stay in London for the funeral of Stephen Tredre. During her talks, Winslet talked about just how insensitive some people were during that trial.
I suppose I was a bit depressed by that… someone I had spent four and a half years of my life with had just died, and it was just that people would even consider. They would be having conversations with me, saying things like ‘Look, we understand, this must be a very hard time.’
She further continued,
And then they’d go on to say, ‘but don’t you think Stephen would have wanted it?’ No he bloody wouldn’t. Stephen would have wanted me at his funeral and I’m going to be there.’ Yes, I was pretty alarmed by that.
Despite the actress knowing the emotional scar of love, in recent news, Winslet is suggesting veteran star and her good friend Leonardo DiCaprio settle down with a married life for good!
According to some sources, Winslet is aware of DiCaprio’s alleged swinging lifestyle but sources claim that the actress wants the Shutter Island star to settle down with current girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti.

Well, only time can tell whether DiCaprio will heed Winslet’s alleged advice or will the actor find someone else to spend the rest of his life with (or not). Nothing can be confirmed or denied at this moment.
For Winslet, the actress married her husband Edward Abel Smith in 2012 and the two seem to be enjoying their married life for the past 12 years. Titanic became both a haunting memory and a lifetime achievement for the actress.
