Jared Leto’s Misconduct Allegations: Everything to Know in New BBC Documentary

Jared Leto is once again facing serious accusations, this time in a new BBC documentary titled Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret. Released on Wednesday, the film gathers the accounts of 10 women who have come forward with allegations against the Masters of the Universe actor.

Several of the women say they were teenagers when the incidents took place. According to the BBC, four of them accuse Leto of criminal s*xual conduct, with the alleged incidents stretching from 2002 to 2016.

The Oscar-winning actor has long been facing accusations like these, but this documentary lays them out in greater detail than ever before. Here’s a full breakdown of what the film alleges, along with the earlier accusations that first surfaced last year.

What Are the Allegations Against Jared Leto in the BBC Documentary?

The BBC documentary features 10 women in total, four of whom accuse Leto of criminal s*xual conduct that they say happened while they were teenagers. One woman claimed that Leto s*xually assaulted her when she was just 17. The incident took place in a motel bathroom.

A second woman, who claimed to be 19 at the time of the assault, shared in the documentary that Leto threatened her with s*xual assault. She shared that this happened when she was left alone with him in a hotel “unexpectedly“.

A third woman accused him of statutory rape, claiming that he had s*x with her when she was 17. This incident happened in California, where she would have been underage. She also claimed that she brought up her age to the actor, who “shrugged off” the age of consent concerns.

Leto faced allegations of grooming from a fourth woman, who shared that he “abused his celebrity status by making repeated s*xually explicit phone calls to her when she was 16.” He allegedly suggested they should have s*x and later sent a non-disclosure agreement to this woman to prevent her from revealing this relationship. BBC claimed that it had seen this document.

Besides these criminal s*xual misconduct allegations, a fifth woman accused him of making a lewd comment about her when she was just 14. She further claimed that he told a security guard to take her backstage during a music festival and that her mother confronted him about it. Four other women have also claimed receiving “strange and often very s*xual” phone calls from the actor when they were younger.

BBC interviewed friends and family of these women, who corroborated the events. The reporters for the outlets have also claimed seeing photographs, messages, and documents supporting the accusations. They also interviewed two men who worked with his band, who allegedly witnessed the actor inviting teenage girls to his dressing room.

Jared Leto Faced Accusations Last Year In An Air Mail Exposé

These claims are not the first to surface. On June 7, 2025, the outlet Air Mail published an investigation containing interviews with nine women, most of whom stayed anonymous. They accused Leto of behaving inappropriately, and some said they were underage when they first came into contact with him. His behavior was described in the report as “predatory, terrifying, and unacceptable,” with one anonymous woman calling it an “open secret.“

One of the women shared that Leto approached her back in 2006 outside a Los Angeles cafe. He was at the cafe with Ashley Olsen. Leto had a quick conversation with the woman and got her number. The actor then called the then-16-year-old’s home and even invited her to a party. She told the outlet that the conversations turned s*xual, sharing, “He’d ask things like: ‘Have you ever had a boyfriend? Have you ever sucked a d*ck?’“

Model Laura La Rue shared that Leto approached her during a house party in Beverly Hills in 2008. He invited her to his home, and she recalled his behavior when she visited his home, sharing, “He was flirting with me. He’d lean in close, then pull away, like it was a game.“

She recalled the actor emerging naked from his room when she was at his home. She was 16 at the time. She stated, “I thought maybe this was just what adult men do.” Leto’s representatives claimed that La Rue “later applied to work as his personal assistant.” However, the model refuted this claim.

Allie Teilz, an LA-based DJ and music producer, reposted a 2012 Facebook post on her Instagram recently, which was included in the report. She wrote, “Youre [sic] not really in L.A. until Jared Leto tries to force himself on you backstage… In a kilt.. And a snow hat.“ She claimed on her Instagram stories, “I was assaulted and traumatized by this creep when I was 17.“

Another woman also claimed that Leto would ask her inappropriate questions when she was still underage. He would allegedly ask her, “Do any of the little boys you hang out with f**k you?” She recalled another incident when she was 18, sharing that he allegedly m*sturbated in front of her and put her hand on him.

The exposé also published a tweet from actor Dylan Sprouse from 2018, which read, “Yo Jared Leto, now that you’ve slid into the DMs of every female model aged 18-25, what would you say your success rate is?” James Gunn, who later took over as DC co-CEO, replied to this tweet, “He starts at 18 on the internet?”

The actor denied the claims by these women in the Air Mail piece. His representatives claimed that the “communications contain nothing s*xual or inappropriate.” Leto has yet to respond to the BBC documentary.
