Bayern Munich will be without Jamal Musiala for their 2026/27 Bundesliga opener against VfB Stuttgart on Friday, according to Kicker and Bild.

The Germany international is expected to return to team training this week, but will not be included in the squad for Friday’s game.

Musiala collapsed on the pitch during Bayern’s pre-season friendlies against RB Leipzig and Heidenheim and subsequently revealed that he had been diagnosed with absence seizures caused by a neurological dysfunction.

The German international is now working closely with Bayern’s medical team and head coach Vincent Kompany to adjust and properly regulate his medication as they look to minimise the risk of further collapses.

With the 23-year-old unavailable, Nathaniel Brown could once again be deployed in a central attacking midfield role, as he was in Saturday’s 2-1 DFL-Supercup win over Borussia Dortmund.

Kompany could also turn to new signing Ismael Saibari, who is continuing to build his fitness after recovering from the injury he suffered for Morocco during the World Cup.
