Mia Goth’s decision to formally end her marriage to Shia LaBeouf came at a particularly striking moment. The “Pearl” actress filed for divorce on October 6, one day after FKA twigs notified the court that LaBeouf had agreed to void the nondisclosure provisions from their previous settlement. The timing means LaBeouf’s estranged wife moved to legally cut ties just as his famous ex-girlfriend became free to speak publicly about her alleged experiences with him.
Mia Goth Filed For Divorce On October 6
C Flanigan/imageSPACE / MEGA Goth filed a petition to dissolve her marriage to LaBeouf in Los Angeles County on Tuesday, October 6. The 32-year-old actress cited “irreconcilable differences” and listed July 28, 2025, as their date of separation.
Goth is asking for primary legal and physical custody of Isabel, the 4-year-old daughter she shares with LaBeouf. She also asked the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to either party.
According to Us Weekly, Goth said the exact nature and extent of their separate and community property remain unknown. She reserved the right to amend the petition once that information is determined.
LaBeouf has not yet publicly responded to the filing.
FKA Twigs Moved To End Her Case One Day Earlier
Keith Mayhew/Landmark Media / Newscom/ MEGAThe timing becomes more noticeable when placed alongside the latest development in LaBeouf’s years-long legal dispute with FKA Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett. On Monday, October 5, Twigs filed a notice stating that the parties had resolved her lawsuit over the confidentiality provisions contained in their earlier settlement.
LaBeouf agreed that the disputed nondisclosure provisions were “terminated and void,” according to documents reviewed by the Los Angeles Times. Twigs then filed a request on October 6 to dismiss the case with prejudice, meaning she cannot bring that particular lawsuit again.
Goth filed for divorce the next day.
- Shia LaBeouf shared an “intimate” story from behind bars following his violent night in New Orleans.
- LaBeouf claimed that “big gay people” scare him during a bizarre interview addressing his Mardi Gras arrest.
- The actor reportedly turned to churches following the chaos surrounding his recent behavior.
- Police claim LaBeouf yelled, “I’m a Catholic,” while hurling gay slurs at his alleged victims.
Shia LaBeouf Agreed To Void The Disputed NDA
CAN/Capital Pictures / MEGATwigs originally sued LaBeouf in December 2020, accusing him of sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress during their relationship. LaBeouf denied the allegations. The former couple privately settled the lawsuit in 2025 before it could proceed to trial. However, the settlement reportedly included confidentiality provisions limiting what Twigs could say publicly.
Their legal fight reignited after LaBeouf accused the singer of violating the agreement by discussing their relationship during an interview. Twigs responded with a new lawsuit in March 2026, arguing that the NDA was unlawful under California law.
LaBeouf ultimately agreed to void the contested provisions, allowing Twigs to speak about her experiences and support charitable causes without fear of legal retaliation under the agreement. “This action has therefore achieved its purpose,” her legal team stated in the dismissal request.
Her attorney, Mathew Rosengart, described the outcome as a victory for women who speak publicly about alleged sexual abuse. LaBeouf’s attorney, Shawn Holley, said the actor wished Twigs well and had agreed to end their long-running dispute.
Mia Goth’s Separation Predated The Latest Settlement
Snorlax / MEGA Despite the eye-catching timing, Goth’s own divorce petition provides important context. She listed July 28, 2025, as the date she and LaBeouf separated, more than a year before her October 2026 filing and months before Twigs launched her latest NDA challenge.
News of their separation also became public months before the divorce filing. Earlier reports claimed Goth asked LaBeouf to move out, and he subsequently relocated to New Orleans to be closer to family.
The couple had been romantically involved on and off since meeting on the set of “Nymphomaniac: Vol. II” in 2012. They held a Las Vegas wedding ceremony in 2016, separated in 2018, and later reconciled before welcoming Isabel in 2022.
The Timing Puts Shia LaBeouf Back Under Intense Scrutiny
CAN/Capital Pictures / MEGAEven without evidence of a direct connection, the timing places LaBeouf’s relationships with both women back in the spotlight at once. Twigs can now publicly discuss the abuse she has alleged without being restrained by the disputed NDA. Goth, meanwhile, is moving forward with a divorce case that could address custody, property, and other aspects of her long relationship with LaBeouf.
The divorce filing also follows a difficult year for the “Transformers” actor. LaBeouf was arrested in New Orleans in February following a Mardi Gras altercation. He later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery charges and received probation, along with treatment and anger-management requirements.
In a March interview, LaBeouf acknowledged that he had damaged his marriage, saying he had made serious mistakes and violated Goth’s trust. Still, Goth has not publicly accused LaBeouf of abuse in connection with the divorce, and her petition reportedly cites only “irreconcilable differences.”
