“I think we all know who’s that.” Fans are buzzing about Batman’s DCU debut, with Creature Commandos seemingly dropping a major hint. The silhouette? It looked strikingly like Alan Ritchson, who hasn’t been shy about his Batman ambitions. And after Jason Momoa’s casting, nothing feels impossible in James Gunn’s new DC universe.

The sneak peek also gave us Gotham City’s first DCU look. Batman appeared with a longer cape, white lenses, and classic trunks — details that scream comic-accurate perfection. Seeing this Bat-suit in live-action could be a game-changer for fans craving a faithful Dark Knight rendition.

James Gunn, during an interview with Rotten Tomatoes TV, dropped more intel. Batman won’t get another origin story. Gunn confirmed the Caped Crusader already exists in the DCU, much like Superman. No pearls, no alleyway flashbacks — just Batman in full form. He said,

Just like when we come from the Superman movie, we see that Superman already exists. He’s already known by the people in Metropolis… We don’t need to hear the origin story again.

Gunn continued,

It’s a great way to show that Batman does exist. He already exists in this universe… That’s just a way to introduce that Batman is apart of this universe. He’s an important part of this universe and he has an impact on it including defeating such pretty dangerous scary people like phosphorus who’s pretty tough.

Gunn explained how this approach sets the stage for Batman’s pivotal role, including defeating enemies like the menacing Phosphorus.

Batman’s presence is no casual cameo. Gunn emphasized he’s an important part of this universe. And the best part, though? Batman and Superman will likely share the screen. He added,

We’re going to do great things with him [Batman]. He’s the most popular superhero in the world… I can’t wait for people to see more of him, along with Superman. And together.

With Gotham unveiled and speculation swirling, the excitement for the DCU’s Batman grows. Whether it’s Alan Ritchson or another contender, one thing’s clear: this Dark Knight is ready to take center stage.

Whoever they bring in as the new Batman, I want them to try out the dark blue and gray suit at least once.

They teased it in the Flash movie but I want them to do it right.

The fact this new Superman goes back to the root design characteristics of the original is a good sign… pic.twitter.com/Emeo3rba54

Due to budget cuts the next Batman will be a robot in the suit that will look menacing and have no speaking lines. 😂

They're making the same mistakes… Spend 100s of millions of dollars to create a cinematic universe that's successfully creative, only to create another that is competition for your same damn property.

While some hope for a creative revival with nods to iconic designs like the dark blue and gray suit, others fear DC is repeating past mistakes. With a fresh Superman in the mix, fans eagerly await whether DC can finally soar or stumble once again.

Creature Commandos is available to watch on Max & Amazon Prime.
