"I’m not worried about us" – Maxime Estève believes Leipzig will be "really, really good"

Maxime Estève reflected on RB Leipzig's response to their recent defeats as they thrashed Hamburger SV 5-0 at the Red Bull Arena on Sunday.

RED BULL ARENA, LEIPZIG (Bulinews): RB Leipzig bounced back from their recent defeats to Werder Bremen and Como in resounding fashion on Sunday, as Martin Demichelis' men thrashed Hamburger SV 5-0 in the Bundesliga.

New French centre-back signing Maxime Estève came on for the final 16 minutes and was delighted with the response his team showed.

“It feels really, really good. Now we have a full week to work until the Leverkusen game (next Sunday),” Estève told Bulinews.com in the mixed zone after the game.

“It’s really good for the confidence. We needed that win to show everyone that we can be really dominant and that we are a good side. I think the fans were proud of us today, and it was a really strong performance.”

The 24-year-old revealed that the atmosphere in the dressing room was “really calm” ahead of the game despite the latest setbacks.

“The main message was to stick together. It was only the fourth game of the season,” he said when asked what RB Leipzig head coach Martin Demichelis had told the team between Thursday's 4-1 defeat to Como and Sunday's match against HSV.

“A lot of things were new during pre-season – the coach and many of the players. It takes time. We had another game three days later and could show a reaction as a team and for our fans. I think that was the best way because we took a big win today," he continued.

“When you have a negative message in your head all the time, it's really hard to keep your head up sometimes. So we just try to stay positive. We are a really young group, but that's no excuse. We could show today that we can be a really, really good side. And to be honest, with the quality of the players we have in the dressing room, I'm not worried about us.

“We can't be unbelievable in just two or three months. It takes time, but I think we'll be really, really good in the end,” the Frenchman added.

RB Leipzig will look to build on their emphatic win when they face Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena on Sunday in their final game before the international break.
