Palworld 1.0 is all the craze right now, and if you’re playing the game for the first time, there’s a lot of new content. In the middle to late parts of the game, you’ll need to craft some items using an item called a Dark Fragment. The Dark Fragment was added to the game with the Feybreak update in 2025.

You won’t be needing Dark Fragments for many things, but nearly every item that uses them is an endgame upgrade, including powerful movement gear, Pal accessories, saddles, and the Homing Module.
So if you’re wondering where to find Dark Fragments in Palworld 1.0 and the fastest way to farm them, here’s everything you need to know.
Where to Get Dark Fragments in Palworld 1.0
There are some crazy late-game items in the game. | Image Credit: PocketpairDark Fragments are exclusive to Feybreak Island. You won’t find them anywhere else in the game, even if you’re fighting Dark-type Pals on other islands.
There are two ways to obtain the material:
- Defeat or capture specific Dark-type Pals on Feybreak.
- Pick up the occasional Dark Fragment pouch found while exploring the island (much rarer).
The most consistent farming method is defeating or capturing the Dark-element Pals listed below.
| Starryon | 1–2 |
| Omascul | 1–2 |
| Splatterina | 2–3 |
| Dazzi Noct | 1 |
| Kitsun Noct | 1–2 |
Boss and Predator variants of these Pals also have a chance to drop Dark Fragments, making them worthwhile targets whenever they respawn.
Best farming route
One of the most efficient farming loops starts from The Oculus Gate, Tower in Sight fast-travel point on Feybreak.
From there:
- Fast travel to The Oculus Gate, Tower in Sight.
- Head southwest through the nearby Dark Pal spawn locations.
- Defeat or capture every Omascul, Starryon, and Splatterina you encounter.
- Return to the fast-travel point.
- Fast travel away and back again to refresh enemy spawns and repeat the route.
Nighttime is generally the best time to farm because Starryon and Splatterina become much more common after dark. Bringing a Hip Lantern also makes navigating the island easier at night.
Pal locations
Here’s where each Dark Pal can be found:
- Starryon – Appears at night across the crimson and purple regions of Feybreak. Alpha Boss located in the northeastern section of the island.
- Omascul – Common in the southern purple-soil areas. Alpha Boss found southwest of The Oculus Gate.
- Splatterina – Night-only spawn across much of Feybreak, excluding most coastal regions. Alpha Boss resides inside the Bloodstained Tunnel.
- Dazzi Noct – Found around the eastern lava fields. An Alpha Boss version can also be challenged near the Feybreak Tower area.
- Kitsun Noct – Doesn’t naturally roam the island. It can only be encountered as an Alpha Boss inside the Dark Flame Tunnel.
Farming tips
To maximize your Dark Fragment income:
- Capture Pals instead of simply defeating them. Captured Pals can later be butchered using a Meat Cleaver or Pal Disassembly Conveyor, giving you another opportunity to obtain Dark Fragments.
- Increase the Pal Appearance Rate in your World Settings (up to 3x) if you’re playing with custom settings to spawn more Dark Pals.
- Bring strong Dragon-type Pals, as they have a type advantage against Dark-element enemies.
- While exploring Feybreak, keep an eye out for random Dark Fragment pouches scattered around the island. They aren’t common but provide extra materials at no combat cost.
Since many Feybreak enemies are Level 50+, make sure you’re carrying high-tier equipment and plenty of ammunition before beginning a farming run.

Dark Fragments are required for several late-game technologies and equipment. Most recipes become available between Levels 52 and 60, making them an important resource for endgame progression.
| Dazzi Noct’s Necklace | 52 |
| Nyafia’s Shotgun | 53 |
| Double Air Dash Boots | 54 |
| Smokie’s Harness | 56 |
| Homing Module | 57 |
| Starryon Saddle | 57 |
| Triple Jump Boots | 58 |
| Xenolord Saddle | 60 |
To craft these items, you’ll have to unlock them first in the Technology menu using the appropriate Technology Points. Some of the fun things you can craft are the Double Air Dash Boots and Triple Jump Boots, which significantly improve movement. If you want some action, the Homing Module is a good late-game upgrade for late-game challenges.
