Copper is not found on your starting island in Solarpunk! It lives on a small island to the northeast of your base. So, just like with Wheat, you’ll have to venture to get Copper.
However, unlike the Wheat island, you can actually spot the Copper island from the edge of your starting area without even opening the map. So, in this guide, we will walk you through both the setup and the farming process.
Part 1: Reach the Copper Island in Solarpunk
Step 1: Build an Airship Dock on your starting island
Before you take to the skies, you need the Airship Dock | Credit: rokaplayThis is a Tier 3 Research unlock, and it is a prerequisite before you can fly anywhere to gather Copper.
Step 2: Craft an Airship at the Dock
Once the Dock is placed, your Airship can be built and launched from there. Keep in mind that no additional upgrades are needed to reach the Copper island.
Step 3: Fly northeast toward the small visible island near the Tradebot

Step 4: Slow down as you approach and lower your Airship carefully to dock
As you get close, reduce your speed and descend carefully to land.
- Press E to dock once you are low enough
- Press S to reduce throttle
- Hold Shift to descend
Part 2: Mine and Smelt Copper in Solarpunk
Step 5: Bring a Pickaxe and enough Stones and Sticks to craft spares
Pickaxe is your friend here, and you will require more of them | Credit: rokaplayA Pickaxe is essential for mining Copper, and you’ll likely need more than one. Mining the Copper Ore node takes several hits and can break multiple Stone Pickaxes, so it’s a good idea to bring enough Stones and Sticks to craft extras on-site.
Step 6: Mine the visible Copper Ore chunks and then target the ground node for bulk ore

Step 7: Return to base and place the Copper Ores into your Furnace with fuel
Bring the Copper Ore back to your base and place it in a Furnace along with fuel. Wood works well as a starter fuel source. Each Furnace can smelt up to 16 Copper Ore at a time, so building multiple Furnaces can help speed up production.
| 1 | Build an Airship Dock | Requires Tier 3 Research before you can fly |
| 2 | Craft an Airship at the Dock | No upgrades needed to reach the Copper island |
| 3 | Fly northeast to the small island near the Tradebot | Visible from your starting island; also has Watermelon |
| 4 | Slow down and dock carefully | Press S to slow down, Shift to descend, and E to dock |
| 5 | Bring Stone Pickaxes and spare crafting materials | The Copper node can break multiple Pickaxes |
| 6 | Mine the surface chunks, then the ground node | Surface chunks give quick ore; the ground node is the main source |
| 7 | Smelt Copper Ore in a Furnace with fuel | Wood works fine; each Furnace can smelt up to 16 Ore at once |
