How to Beat IDUS in Pragmata? Boss Fight Guide

As you progress through the lunar research facility with Hugh and Diana in Pragmata, soon enough, you’ll cross paths with IDUS (SectorGuard), a giant rogue mech bent on neutralizing threats inside the Station, which, of course, is you, thanks to unauthorised access. Mindlessly shooting this massive bot won’t ensure a victorious outcome, so you’ll need to move around a lot.

IDUS has two phases, and in the second phase, Diana learns a new ability, which you need to utilise to guarantee the mech’s demise. So, here’s how to beat IDUS successfully in Pragmata.

Phase 1: Target Weak Point & Dodge Missiles

Once IDUS’s boss fight in Pragmata begins, use Diana’s hacking capabilities to bring down its defenses. Having the Stasis Net in the boss fight will be of massive help, as shooting it towards IDUS will immobilize it for a short duration, allowing Diana to hack without worrying about incoming attacks.

After its defenses are down, target and exploit the robot’s weak point to deal significant damage. IDUS’s weak point is the orange energy core on its back. The strategy is immobilize it with the Stasis Net, hack its defenses with Diana, and use other weapons (Grip Gun/Shockwave Gun) to target its weak point in the back. The robot will occasionally charge rapidly towards you, which you can dodge easily using Hugh’s dash.

IDUS will shoot multiple missiles towards you at once, indicated by red circular holographic markers on the ground. Dash to avoid them at all costs, as one shot could be lethal. Dodge the missiles and get behind IDUS to hack its defenses from behind and shoot at the energy core on its back to deal the most damage. Don’t forget to collect ammo and the hack module consumables.

Once you’ve dealt enough damage, you’ll be prompted to unleash a Critical Shot, which is a devastating follow-up attack, using R2/RT near the downed bot. Doing so will have Hugh jump onto IDUS and perform a finisher, concluding the first phase of the boss fight. If IDUS is still up and running, damage it until the cutscene to trigger the second phase of the fight triggers.

Phase 2: Utilize Diana’s Overdrive: Protocol Ability to Take Down IDUS

The second phase of IDUS’s boss fight in Pragmata will begin with a cutscene showing Hugh dodging missiles and Diana learning the Overdrive Protocol ability, which can be activated using L3+R3. However, this ability can only be activated when the yellow circular hacking gauge beside your health is full.

This gauge can be filled by consistently hacking with Diana, and once she uses Overdrive Protocol, it’ll briefly immobilize IDUS and deal damage. Regardless of her newfound ability, the strategy to beat the mech remains the same: hack to bring down its defenses, shoot the weak point behind it, and dodge its occasional charges and missiles.

The hacking gauge likely won’t fill during the second phase, as it takes considerable time and hacking to fill it. So, shooting its weak point will be enough to overheat IDUS and bring it down to its knees. As long as you’re out of the robot’s line of sight and behind it, you should be able to deal significant damage using your arsenal of weapons.

Press R2/RT near the downed IDUS to deliver a Critical Shot. Hugh will perform the finisher, destroying IDUS once and for all. If it’s on the verge of death, just shoot its weak point a few times, and you’re good to go. The lunar base’s energy levels will be restored, and the boss fight will end with an adorable cutscene of Hugh teaching Diana to high-five in Pragmata.
