Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the second entry in Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, and it picks up immediately after the party escapes Midgar at the end of Remake. While Remake took us through the events of Midgar, Rebirth takes us to the rest of the world in an open-world format, taking us to multiple regions full of side quests, minigames, and a ton of optional content.

The length and play time that you’ll get from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth depend on how much optional content you choose to complete.
According to Square Enix, the main story takes roughly 40 hours to finish. But from our own playthrough and general community experiences, it’s closer to 50-60 hours for a standard playthrough that includes some exploration and side content.
Here’s a general estimate of playtime:
| Main Story Only | 35-50 Hours |
| Main Story + Some Side Content | 55-70 Hours |
| Completionist Playthrough | 90-100+ Hours |
The game’s enormous amount of optional content is a big part of its overall length. We have the option to do regional side quests, World Intel objectives, summon shrines, Chocobo activities, Queen’s Blood card matches, mini-games, combat challenges, and much more.
Unlike Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which was largely linear, Rebirth is all about exploring the multiple regions of Gaia, making it one of the biggest Final Fantasy games in recent years.
